Success Story: Honey (#1033)

Adopted May 2004

HoneyHoney (#1033)

I just wanted to let everyone know how much I am enjoying my new life with Marilee and Richard. We are becoming good pals since I moved to my forever home in Vancouver.

They seem to enjoy going for walks around the town every bit as much as I do — and we're sharing special times together. I can't wait to hit the hiking trails and show them both how much fun the great outdoors will be, now that I'm a member of their family.

My days are definitely sweet — just like my name!

Update: June 3, 2004

HoneyAnnie (formerly Honey) is getting used to us little by little. She always greets us with a tail wag and usually a toy. My hiking friend and I took her on a second hike Wednesday — to Salmon Butte. It was 10 miles, uphill both ways. The view at the top was grand, but Annie found a snow bank to cool off in. She has learned to wade in streams now, and likes to taste the water, just like the other dogs do. She doesn't like to lead, as most dogs do, but likes to be #2 — not #3. It will be interesting to see her confidence in the woods increase and her level of excitement grow.

HoneyIt's Annie (formerly Honey). If they catch me on the computer, I'll be in trouble. I'm doing OK here. I'm eating good and keep the rabbits and squirrels out of the yard. Sometimes I bark at the fence if something comes down the street that needs to be barked at. I met the vet here. I have to take pills and eye drops for an eye infection. It's getting better. He said short legs are good — less chance of leg problems for me. Yesterday Rich and two other men and I went hiking again. We went to Falls Creek Falls. I had to cross a high suspension bridge that moved. I could see down. I was scared, but I walked across. Later, I waded in the creek for a long time. Then we went to the top of wind mountain. I was tired when we got to the car. They said I am doing better each time and may become the best hiker dog yet. I'm starting to answer to my new name.
