Danny Boy (#1050)

Danny Boy and DadHi Foster Mom!

Just thought I would write you a note to let you know that everything is okay and I think this place will make a pretty good forever home. When Dad came to get me, I wanted to go with him, but was afraid of that big thing he came in so Dan (he's my trainer) had to lift me in. (I think Dad called it a car.) When we got home there was so much to see and do: a new yard, toys, my food dish, water, crows and cats from next door that like to sleep in my yard. Finally, Dad and I sat down for a little talk and he said if I wanted to unpack, I would have to follow some rules. Yuk! I knew Dad spent too long with Dan because now he uses all those same words; you know the ones — sit, stay, heel, down, here. And the house, that's the worst. I can't jump up on the furniture, lick, knock people over, run, chew socks or take things off the table. Did I say lick? Whew! That's a lot for a big guy like me to remember but I think I'm getting it all down! At first, I was not too sure they really meant it so I tested just to make sure. They did. So now I am just trying to get all of it right. (If I miss, then Mom and Dad help me practice so I get it right.)

Danny Boy and MomSince I have been here, I've already trained Dad to put me outside in the morning for some personal business, bring me food in my dish and to make sure my water is fresh. Mom likes to brush me, and she told Dad how to scratch that special spot behind my ear. Both Mom and Dad take me for walks, but I prefer Dad. (He walks faster.) Shhhh! Please don't tell Mom! Sometimes she gets home before Dad and I still want her to let me in and scratch that spot behind my ear.

Last night I had to get in that car thing again, and we all went to Columbia something or other. I got to see Dan again and show him how good I can be. In fact, since Mom and Dad were so good to me last night that when bedtime came I decided to fool them and go in that crate thing all by myself. Wasn't I a good Danny Boy, Foster Mom?

Well there's a crow I have to go bark at. Oops! Here comes Dad... maybe that isn't in my rules after all. What do you think Foster Mom? Can I stay and train my new people the right way? I know I am the right big guy to do it and would hate to give up on them just when they are doing so well. So please, can I stay?

Absolutely!
