Success Story: Barnaby, formerly Smiley (#1092)

Adopted November 27, 2004

SmileyHi! I am Barnaby (#1092), formerly known as Smiley, and I am the happy addition to Firview, which is the home and small acreage near Stayton owned by Bing and Scottie who are my new Dad and Mom.

The first three years of my life were not very easy ones, but three months ago I was taken to Diane's foster home and she and her son gave me the love and wonderful care that I needed to recover from some very traumatic days in the pound. When Bing and Scottie came to visit us, I could tell they wanted to take me home with them right then. When they met us the next week, Diane gave them all sorts of helpful warnings and suggestions, but now that I have been in my new home for a week, I know they would agree that we all are adjusting well to each other. Mom says that if Dad doesn't get another thing for Christmas, she will know he is just happy to have me. I am not allowed on the beds, but can sleep on this loveseat in the family room, and I have even earned the right to be left alone in the house when they go to church and are only gone for a short time.

I am looking forward to spring when Dad and Mom start camping every month with the Alpenlite Travel Club again, and I can go along in the truck and their 5th wheel trailer. In the meantime, I am content to go for walks and play in the yard with Dad. Thank you, Golden Bond, from me and from Bing and Scottie for the blessing you have given us by helping us to find each other and for giving us a whole new dimension to our lives.

Update April 3, 2005

Smiley
Lorn, Sweden, Homer and Eric paid a visit to Barnaby, Scottie and Bing at Firview in Stayton today. We are delighted to report that Barnaby is as happy and lucky as can be. He has a wonderful loving family with a couple of acres to roam, birds, to chase, cattle to intimidate (on the other side of the fence) and goats (on their way). Barnaby sticks like glue to his dad and gets on every bed in the house he can get away with when his parents aren't looking.

He is a loveable, wonderful guy. He had never spent any time around other dogs since he was adopted at thanksgiving, and was very patient with Homer — who just took over everything on Barnaby's property as if he had just bought the place.

We all had a great time!

Lorn and Smiley Bing and Smiley
