Success Story: Taylor (#1098)

Adopted September 25, 2004

TaylorHi, everybody! I'm Taylor (#1098), though they sometimes call me Lugnut at my new home. Taylor is my Golden Bond name because I was picked up as a stray and no one knows what I'm used to being called. That's okay, I figure a new life deserves a new name!

The first few days of my new life weren't so great. I was taken to the Humane Society but they couldn't keep me because I had kennel cough and might infect the other dogs. So I was taken to a pet hospital and put in a kennel in isolation. They were nice to me but I sure was lonely. A good meal twice a day, but no company and no walks because I might make the other dogs sick. I was sure sad. Then some people from Golden Bond came for me and life is bright again! I'm out of the cage and living in a big house with a big yard stocked with lots of birds and squirrels just for my entertainment.

I'm very eager to please, so tell me to "sit" or "come" and I will right away. I'm learning "off" but when I'm needing a hug or get very excited I forget not to jump up sometimes. If I forget, all you have to do is tell me "no" and I'm pretty good at stopping; I'll even stop if I just see you frown because I want you to be happy with me. I have good manners and don't beg or bother when people are eating. When I first got to my foster home I had to be right next to my foster mom all the time but by the next day I was feeling more secure and was okay just being in the same room as long as I got an occasional cuddle when I asked for it. I'm completely house trained and was fine getting into a crate for the ride home from the hospital. I did have to get hauled off the bed 5 times before settling down to sleep next to the bed, but that's because I thought maybe there was some mistake about where I was supposed to sleep. Now I know: it's next to the bed, not on the bed. I love getting hugs and pets and snuggles and I'm a very good kisser. I love to play with my tennis ball and I'll bring it back and let you take it so you can throw it again. I'm probably about 2 years old so I like to run and play, but in the house I settle down and am very calm and well-behaved. My mom says I'm very very smart as well as being very very sweet. I'm not pure golden, even though my personality is. I have black on the tips of my ears, and black whiskers and black around my eyes, and my head is kind of blocky which she thinks is kinda funny-looking, but I think makes me look very distinguished.
