Success Story: Teddy (#1109)

Adopted November 14, 2004

Hi, I'm Teddy (#1109)! I now live in Salem with my new dad and mom, Mike and Lorene, and my new golden sister, Dori. We are having a great time — I am so happy to be in my forever home. Dori and I play tug of war and chase around the house a lot, and we both have lots of toys that we play with together, too. I'm settling in very well and have gotten used to our new family routine. Dad and Mom take Dori and me for lots of walks, and I love my new neighborhood with all the trees and squirrels and other fun sights to see. I like to supervise Mom in the kitchen when she makes dinner, and if she drops any food on the floor, I'm a very good helper! Dad took me for my "howdy" visit with my new veterinarian, and he said that I am a healthy and happy golden retriever. Thank you so much, Golden Bond, for taking such good care of me — I'm a very lucky boy!

Update February 22, 2005

Teddy is doing great! He graduates from obedience class tomorrow night, and he has improved a lot since we first started taking him. We still need to do more work around distractions such as squirrels and birds, but he does very well otherwise.

Teddy is such a tender heart and gets along great with his sister, Dori, and new brother, Calhoun (he's a 1-yr. old black lab who didn't make it to Guide Dog school) and we love him so much. The three of them together keeps us very busy. When we walk them, Mike has the boys and I have Dori — the boys like to be in the lead, so Dori and I just follow behind. It's fun to see the looks on people's faces when we all come walking down the street!

We feel very blessed to have Teddy with us — he has settled in so well and it feels like he's been with us forever, not just 3 months. I did send a photo of Teddy up for calendar consideration. I'm hoping it will be one of the chosen :-)
