Ginger (#1132) arrived at our house this afternoon. It's a big transition for her, but she seems to be doing pretty well. She loves to be petted. I think she is especially appreciating how messy preschoolers can be when they eat. She sneaked a bite of a Krispy Kreme doughnut from an unsuspecting Joseph. Hmmmm. We're going to have to work on her mealtime manners a little (smile).
Tess, the cat, is a little put out, but not nearly as much as I expected. When Ginger was eating her dinner, Tess came up behind very quietly and streeeeeetched to sniff Ginger's back legs. They stared at each other for a while in a curious sort of way. I think they'll come to an understanding soon. I'm sure it helps that they are both pretty mellow old ladies.
She doesn't seem to be disturbed by the kids' roughhousing. She has already claimed her "cave" (a crate with a blanket thrown over the top) as a place to take a nice nap, and that will be her "kid free zone." We're looking forward to hanging out at home for the next few days and helping her get used to her new home.
