Adopted December 30, 2004
Reddy (#1143): The first time my mom saw me, I was curled up in the back of the kennel at the shelter. She told me to trust her, that she was from Golden Bond and they would find me a new home. I jumped in the van, kissed her all over, gave a huge sigh and slept all the way home.
At "home" there was a short hairy thing that looked like a Persian cat but is a Pekingese named Teek. He thinks he runs things but my mom says there is only one Alpha in this house and that's her! My special friend is Jonah, another Golden, who is starting to like me, probably because I sleep as close to him as I can get. We play a lot together. This is a pretty good place and I have lots of chances to show off my good manners in the house and outside. We go for lots of walks and run on the horse trails. I hear that in the summer we spend lots of time at the lake, I bet that will be fun.
After I'd been here a few days, I jumped the fence which is a big "NO NO BAD DOG" thing. But I only jumped it because my mom was driving down the driveway and it looked like she forgot to take me along. Jonah looked at me like I was in for Big Trouble.
My mom wasn't looking for another dog, but how I got to her is like this: I always come when she says, I follow her from room to room, I chase squirrels, I like Teek and Jonah, I am perfect in the house, I know lots of commands, I am very handsome and I have lots of "heart". My mom says I should be named Rhett Butler, whatever that is, but she calls me Red because of my blazing red coat. She kept saying to her husband, "I just can't let this dog go." He likes me too but he rolls his eyes when she says this. So last week they flunked Fostering 101 and decided they better adopt me. I'm just too good to let go. (I also give really good small kisses sometimes, which probably has something to do with it.)
Thanks to Golden Bond for saving my life. I have the kind of heart that never gives up hope but this was a close call!
