Success Story: Sonny (#1152)

Adopted April 15, 2005

Sonny
Dear Golden Bond Volunteers,

I want to thank you so much for all the good work you do and the dedication each person has shown for the well being of the dogs up for adoption. I picked up Sonny this last Friday from his foster mom in Beaverton and drove him to his new home with us, only a few minutes away. Sonny was a bit nervous at first, but within the first day he was playing and prancing around the back yard with his new friend, a black lab named Sydney. It has now been a few days since Sonny arrived and it feels like he has been a part of our family forever. He is such the perfect gentleman and full of kisses and hugs. I couldn't have asked for a better dog to bring in to our home. I am so very grateful to all of you for everything.

Sincerely,
Lyne

Sonny's "Available" Story

Sonny
Sonny (#1152) is a rather shy, sweet little guy. He is estimated to be about 2 years old. He was a stray so we don't have any background information on him. Sonny gets along well with his foster dogs, a Golden, a toy poodle and a Maltase plus six cats! I'd say that is pretty animal friendly!

Sonny continues to work on his basic command and is doing quite well. He has learned to use the dog/cat door and proudly goes in and out every few minutes. He has done well with his house training, with or without the dog door. He walks well on a leash and is friendly to all he meets.

Sonny rides well in the car and loved his first adventure to the beach. He loves his stuffed toys too. It is felt that he would do best with older children as he can paw at you for attention and will even gently grab your arm or sleeve if he isn't getting the attention he deserves.

Recently, Sonny had a trip to the Animal Eye Doctor, Dr. Susan Kirschner, since it seemed he was having some problems with his vision. After a thorough exam, we were told that Sonny was born with small cataracts in each eye. They are bothering his vision only slightly at this time. Sonny has been started on some vitamins which may keep them from causing his vision to deteriorate. He will also need daily eyedrops for a long time. Dr. Kirschner told us that if he loses his vision, cataract surgery would most likely restore good vision. In the meantime he will need only occasional visits to see the eye doctor.

Please don't let this deter you from seeing Sonny as he is a sweetie and will love you and be your friend no matter what happens with his eyes.
