Success Story: Pup (#1183)

Pup - Jackson
Hello everyone! This is Jackson [aka Pup (#1183)] writing from my new permanent home in SE Portland. I arrived here in February after spending most of my life living tied up in the back yard of my family's home in Roseberg. I didn't get much attention despite my charming personality. My family called Golden Bond and suddenly I was living in Portland with my foster mom and another foster dog, Max. Let me tell you, living inside is WAY BETTER!! Max and I played a lot in the beginning but then he got adopted. So I started to work on my foster mom. I had a lot of separation anxiety issues whenever she left me alone. In fact I did a lot of chewing — her seatbelt, stick shift, bike shoes, books, anything I could get my jaws on. She even contacted some of the other Golden Bond volunteers for advice. And she was very patient with me. She bought me LOTS of toys to chew and I have begun to learn what is mine and what is hers. I still have lapses but she is very patient. Because I am still so young (only 16 months now) I have LOTS of energy so we go to the dog parks and on walks A LOT. I have play dates with other dogs regularly. My first family said that I was VERY shy as I had been the runt of the litter. Well that's not true anymore!! I make friends with dogs EVERYWHERE and humans too. Mom says I've become quite well known at the dog park!!! My first family didn't even give me a real name — they called me Pup. My foster mom would have none of that and she named me Jackson. Pretty cool, huh! After nearly 2 months I finally achieved my goal and my foster mom decided to adopt me. We are having a GREAT time. I have 2 dog beds in our house, tons of toys and friends and next week I'll be learning about NOT playing in the vegetable garden (whatever that means). Mom says something about my paws stomping on the vegetables. Anyhow, thank you to Golden Bond for all of your support, especially to my foster mom (now my permanent mom) during my challenging times. Your support really helped us and now I have a permanent home! We'll be going camping this summer and hiking and taking trips to the beach. It's all good. Okay, I've got to get back to playing with my ball or maybe my kong or maybe my stuffed raccoon or maybe a book (oops, better not do that :))
