For the Love of Goldens
Success Story: Chip (#1190)
Adopted June 3, 2005
Oh Boy, Oh Boy, I can hardly contain myself long enough to write this. I have a new home with everything I ever wanted. I have a Mom, a Dad, a girl, a boy and a Golden Retriever. Dad lets me follow him around while he works on my yard and Mom lets me hang out in the kitchen when she cooks looking for those dropped goodies. The kids are great, they love me already and I love them too. Both Matt and Lauren are just the kind of kids I have always wanted. Coby, the Golden, is my very bestest friend. We play and run, rest, then play and run again. He is still young so I need to teach him a thing or two but we have time for that. The best thing about my new home and family is that they don't even care that I have seizures, they love me anyway. They promised to take good care of me and I know they will.
I want to take a minute to thank all the vets and folks at Golden Bond who have helped me along the way. Without you and your great group of volunteers I would have never found my forever family. A special thanks to Duke who loved me and kept me happy while I was waiting for this new life.
Love and sloppy kisses to all,
Chip
Chip's "Available" Story
Hey, my name is Chip (#1190) and I'm hoping you can make me a Golden Bond graduate. I'm looking for a home that will be a forever place of safety, love, and play. I'm 3 years old, a manly blond color, weigh about 65 pounds and am full of energy. I love people, dogs, and toys. Cats are all right but if they run you know who will chase them. Kids are lots of fun but I think I am too full of energy for little ones. I have a couple of problems that my foster mom thinks you need to know about. Since I don't really understand about them, I'll let her explain it to you.
Hi! I have fostered many dogs for Golden Bond Rescue, all of whom have taken little bits of my heart with them to their new homes. Chip has been one of the most rewarding adventures I have taken as a foster mom. You see he has a seizure disorder. The day after he became a Golden Bond dog he began having what is know as "cluster seizures". We are not sure just what caused this sudden problem as he was reportedly seizure-free, thanks to medication, for many months before. It could have been the trauma of the neutering, home change, and loss of family that he endured all in one day. It could also have been brought on by the combination of drugs in his system from the neutering and his pain meds. The long and the short of it was that he was one sick boy. After several days of various medications and a team of very caring and dedicated veterinarians attending to him, he is back in control again. Chip has been seizure free for over 2 months now and is thriving. He is very playful and active.
Chip will need to take medication for his seizures for the rest of his life. These medications are only about $40.00 per month and he takes them very easily. They make him very thirsty and hungry. Due to his extreme thirst, he needs a home with a dog door. Two-plus gallons of water per day is a lot to ask one bladder to hold until you get home.
If you have any further questions or would like to meet Chip please give us a call. Thanks for considering making one of our great dogs a part of your life.
