Success Story: Ruby (#1198)

Adopted May 29, 2005

Ruby
Hi! You know me, Ruby (#1198); now I want you to meet my new family. Joanne is the pretty lady sitting with me and Griffy, who is my new brother. There are also cats in my family who I am still trying to get to know but they don't seem to like me very much. I'm sure that will change. I also have met Joanne's daughter and her two children and you know I am just great with kids so this is going to be quite a forever family for me.

I have been a very fortunate Golden Bond dog as I have been living out at Charlton Kennels while Jane taught me some obedience training and some pretty basic manners. I have come a long way but I am only a year old and I do forget so Joanne is going to enroll me in the Columbia Dog Training school real soon so we can both learn together.

My new owner works but she always comes home right afterward and takes me in the car if she has errands to run. I love the car and am trying to learn to stay in the back of the SUV but it is hard to always do that. I get so excited and just want to tell everyone how happy I am.

Life is going to be great here. I have a wonderful family who already loves me very much, an eight year old brother who can give some guidance and an extended family of cats and kids. Is this great or what!

Love, Ruby :o)

Ruby's "Available" Story

Ruby
If you are looking for a sweet, young female, then Ruby (#1198) is the dog for you. Ruby is a small Golden, around 50 pounds of sweetness.

Ruby was a year old in February. In her original home, she ruled the roost but, since coming to Golden Bond, we have found her very responsive and almost submissive in wanting to please.

Ruby gets along great with children, over 12 would be best since she is still young and may jump up if she forgets her training. She loves other dogs. It's felt she would do well with an older male dog who is laid back and mellow. She is unproven with cats but, since she wants to please so much, it seems that she could be easily taught to ignore them.

Ruby is house trained and understands some basic commands. Obedience class is a must for her. In her previous home she could be quite destructive when left alone. However, she is crate trained, so this is the best solution when you are not around. It's most likely that she will outgrow or can be trained out of the chewing phase, which is not at all uncommon for a pup of her age.

Ruby is a young, happy and friendly dog who is waiting for just the right forever home to come along.
