Success Story: Goldie (#1201)

Adopted August 29, 2005

Goldie

Notes from Goldies new Mom:

We are finding that Goldie (#1201) loves to go for walks, long or short. And I honestly believe she thinks she will one day be a cook. She seems to love the kitchen, and watches every move. Also, she is the worlds champion begger. It is our guess that is why she was so heavy when she came to Golden Bond. Someone had no idea what her balanced diet should be or anything else about feeding her. My guess is that she got lots of 'people food'. There are those who believe: "If it's good enough for me, it's good enough for my dog." Wrong!

This morning we were discussing just that. And Bob said out loud, "Cookie". Boy, did she come to attention with her ears up. That tells alot. The word "Cookie" had the same affect on Mac. Mac has been gone about 4 years now, but all the things we learned from him are not changed. Most all of it applies to Goldie as well. She is lying on the carpet beside me right now, as I use the computer, like a "dog skin rug". She is so pretty. We finally decided that Saturday night would be our big 'Need It or Not Bath Night'. She didn't seem to know what a bathtub was for, but did just fine once I got her in it. Ever tried lifting 65 lbs. of dead weight?

Goldie is cool about the cats, but they are still not so sure about her. They are taking it very, very slowly. But I'm sure by time the weather turns they will be o.k. Right now they stay out in the back yard all day, even in the hot sun, but will consent to come in at night. When one of them goes streaking thru the house at night, returning to their hiding place or bed after getting a midnight snack, that brings Goldie up with a big "Woof" and a chase. Of course, that brings me up with a big "Goldie, NO, don't chase the kitties!" Then everybody goes back to bed and it's quiet again.

We are enjoying having Goldie and are so glad it was us who got her. She has her "Forever Home" now and will be much loved and cared for. Kisses from Goldie.

And a little from Goldies new Dad:

Goldie has taken over our back yard and now goes out all by herself to take care of "business" A few mornings ago (I get up at either 5 or 6 depending on work) I opened the back door for Goldie to go out. The first thing I noticed was spilled water all around the pets water pan. Then the cat stuff on the table was all knocked over — certain clues to a visit from Racoons. We haven't had any for a long time, since I put the electric fence around the fish ponds. No apparent sign of life, though and Goldie went on about her business. Suddenly, right in the middle of her tinkle, we both heard it — a suspicous noise over behind the raspberries. With a wild and ferocious roar, Goldie launched a viscous attack, and sent two big racoons flying over the fence! To say that I was astounded by this dainty ladies actions is a vast understatement. It was several minutes before her hair went back down, and she kept looking back and growling under her breath. It makes me wonder about some of her history, and what her adventures might have been.

Thanks again to Golden Bond for helping Goldie find some new adventures with our family.

Best,
Bob

Goldie's "Available" Story

Goldie
Hello Everyone! My name is Goldie (#1201) and I am ready to be the love of your life! I am a beautiful and healthy nine year "young" lady. I am very well trained and have good manners. I know all my commands like sit, stay, come and lie down and I walk beautifully on a leash. The only time I might get a little scolding from my foster mom is when I get carried away and grab for food, but I am learning to be more patient. I am great with other dogs and cats and would do well in a home with children over the age of six. My foster mom says I am a very loving, petite girl and she knows I will make some family very happy. Are you ready for a life of unconditional Golden love? If so, I'm your girl!!!!
