Success Story: Yellow (#1241)

Adopted August 30, 2005

Yellow
Hello everyone out there in Golden Land, this is Yellow (#1241). (I am one of Alice in Goldenland's puppies.) But my new Mom calls me Pippin. Who said fairy tales can't come true? It sure has for me, that's all I know.

I have found my forever home with Becky in Hillsboro. It was sad leaving my foster family, but my new Mom says we can keep in touch. I am going to love this new home and my Mom.

Becky reports that Pippin has already started to settle in and become that" Golden" boy she has been waiting for. Your foster Mom loves you very much Pippin so be good and we all hope to see you at the picnic next year. Keep in touch!

Update September 13, 2005

Yellow
I met Ol' Yeller at the GoldenBond Annual Picnic and knew right away that this sweet tempered boy was for me. So Yellow — now Pippin — came home with me 2 weeks ago today. Since then we have done quite a lot, and he has taken it all in his rapidly growing stride.

Pippin's average day consists of breakfast, a walk where we meet his brother Pulsar (formally Blue, who my sister adopted) and then several hours of brotherly rough-housing before a well deserved nap. Then lunch and the same cycle all over again. Pip often tries to convince me that he needs "second breakfast" so the Hobbit inspired name is apt. We went to the vet last week to finish up his vaccinations, and he weighed in at 45 pounds!! The vet staff oohed and ahhed at how well behaved this puppy is. Big thank you to his foster mom, Cindy!! Pippin's mange has cleared up completely (so no more of those not-so-fun baths for a while) and he is very healthy. He has lost his remaining 3 puppy teeth this week after a lot of chewing (only on toys and bones) and is growing into his big paws quickly.

We started Puppy Training on Friday, and he is already showing how smart he is. The dog park was exciting, more for the new smells than the other dogs. Even the huge Mastiff was just another dog to Pip. He is still trying to figure out what he thinks about our cat at home... does he want to bark at it or just get close enough to make friends?

Everything is wonderful having Pippin at home with me in Hillsboro. The neighborhood kids are beside themselves with 2 of Alice's puppies on the same block. He is a wonderful addition to my home. Thank you GoldenBond! If anyone has a secret for nail trimming, let me know... that is our next challenge.
