Success Story: Fonzy (#1249), now Stuart

Adopted October 22, 2005

Fonzy
Hi everyone, Stuart here (formerly Fonzy #1249). I'm a happy boy with my new mom and dad, Mark and Pat in Roseburg. The first 2 weeks were quite an adjustment. First, there was the long ride to my new home, then a few days there, then four days at the coast, and then home again. Whew! For a while, I didn't know for sure where my new home was. But I do, now. It's the place with the fishpond that I can play in (with supervision) and the big yard, where I can run and run, and run. There are lots of trees and pathways, and it's sort of like being at a park, except I'm at home.

I'm the only pet, so I get all the attention and belly rubs. Mom says I melt into a love puddle. I like to snuggle and cuddle with her on the floor. Sweet. I must admit, it wasn't all fun and games at first. I answer to Stuart, but those first couple weeks, I thought my name had been changed to "No!" Now, it's mostly Stuart. I think I'm a pretty good boy. I love to go on walks and play fetch. When I need to go outside, I let out a deep and meaningful manly "Woof". Works every time. I hear "Good Boy" and get love pats afterward. My new mom taught me to sit and wait for my dinner. I'm becoming quite the gentleman, except for when I jump on people, but we're working on that. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a fire in the woodstove, and a new rug just for me so I can curl up, keep warm, and dream of tomorrow in my new forever home.

A few words from Mom: Stuart is a sweetie, although we do have a few issues to work out, mostly due to puppyness, like wanting to jump and being so full of energy that he wants to play at 5:00 am. He's well mannered, considering his age of 14 months. When older, he'll be a very handsome, mellow fellow. He has finally begun to feel like he belongs here. For the first two weeks, we didn't see much of a happy golden smile or much tail wagging. That's all changed now. His body language says it all. Stuart is a happy dog. Even though we miss Jasmine, each day that Stuart is with us, a spark of love for him replaces a bit of sorrow for her. He's a keeper, that's for sure.

Fonzy's "Available" Story

Fonzy
Hi, my name is Fonzy (#1249), or also known as Stuart, by my foster mom. I am a young, (9-10 months) beautiful, happy, very energetic boy, who wants to play all day. I like to test each toy in the dog toy box. I am working on retrieving the tennis ball — I just don't like to give it up. I love squeaky latex toys so, if you don't mind non-stop squeaking, I'm for you. I am potty trained and will stay quietly in a crate or kennel when you are gone. I travel well in the car and like going for walks. I am working on walking on a leash and do well when I am not with my foster brother. I will sit for treats and I am working on down. I'm learning fast, but would like to go to doggie school to learn all my commands better. I would also like to find a forever home where I can play and lay at your feet all day. Oh yeah, and I like to wake my foster dad with a toy in my mouth and low rumble until he says "hi"!

I ignore cats, for the most part, but will chase them if they run. I get along with my foster brothers and sisters, both big and small. Because I came from a shelter and I can't tell anyone about my former life, they tell me that I should not live with children under 12.

I also enjoy swimming, and running on the beach. I had a great weekend at the beach... I swam, jogged, walked, and then rested for more fun, all weekend long.
