Golden Retriever Rescue
For the Love of Goldens
Adopted July 24, 2005

From the moment we met him in Bend, our three kids (13,10,8) fell in love with his big bear looks. I know it was hard for his foster parents to say good bye to him. He misses Rick and Christi's pond, but sure enjoys our sprinklers.
He snuggled up for the four hour ride home. Our previous beloved Border collie was never so calm.
The first night he climbed the wood stairs to the second floor and trolled around most of the night. At 5:30 a.m. the next morning, it was time to go out but Scout stood at the top of the stairs and just cried. We couldn't get him to come down the stairs. It was out of the question to carry 95 pounds of Golden Retriever down the stairs, so twenty minutes and lots of treats later, he slid down on his stomach! He cried the whole way. It took about 3 more tries and he became a total pro at those stairs.
The outings in the neighborhood were another challenge. Scout had some "stranger" anxieties towards people he didn't know. He couldn't figure out why people loved him so much. Now he knows it's because he is so wonderful and he gets lots of compliments on how beautiful he is.
Thank you to all the people that have loved Scout. He has found his forever home and we are truly happy with our Velcro dog.

Dakota's "Available" Story

Dakota will make an excellent family companion and he is gentle around children. He is just learning about cats and doesn't seem interested in harming them. He is a great house dog and sleeps on a large dog pillow. Fully house broken, he goes to bed when the family goes to bed. Although he needs to shed a few pounds, he will do so quickly with the proper diet and plenty of exercise.
This handsome Golden boy is ready for a loving, active family and will be a real joy to the lucky ones who adopt him!
