Success Story: Henry (#1260)
Adopted August 9, 2005
Henry (#1260) is doing great. He has brought our family so much joy! He has lived up to his Foster Mom's description of a "Velcro dog". Henry loves to be where ever we are. If we are giving the kids hugs goodnight, Henry snuggles his way in-between to get some of the affection. He is a very sweet dog. He can't seem to get enough. All four the kids love to give him attention. Henry takes turns sleeping in their rooms each night. He starts off in their room but ends up at the end of Mom and Dad's bed before morning. Then he loves to join dad or mom in bed if one of us leaves so there is room for him. He is learning how to walk on a leash, not chew up kids toys, and not jump up on people when he firsts meets them. Henry is still very much a puppy. We are still trying to get him to play catch, but he prefers "catch me". He loves to run past you as fast as he can with the toy you want to play catch with in his mouth. We have to be careful about letting him out the front door without a leash. He will take off to the park which is at the end of our street. He has slimmed down some since we got him. He is popular with all the kids who come to visit. He has made a friend with my parents dog who lives in Washington but comes for visits. Thank you to Golden Bond and all the volunteers who make the organization run. We were in Sunriver and met people who had gotten their Golden from Golden Bond. They didn't make it to the picnic this year but we told them it's a must do. My husband and the kids had so much fun and we can't wait for next year.
Henry's "Available" Story
I'm just over one year of age and still very much a puppy! I wake up smiling, but will be happy to snuggle with you if you're not fully awake yet. I'm very good in the house all day with my seven-year old Golden foster brother (as long as I have plenty of chew toys around) and am thrilled when you come home!
I've had a lot of fun at a place called 'dog park' as I'm always happy to meet new dogs and see if they want to run with me. Mind you, one day I was just as pleased to chase a low-flying swallow that had me running all over the park. I like small dogs and cats 'cause they run fast but they tend to snap at me when I want to roll them over!
I'm completely house trained as long as I do get to go outside at least after six hours! I'm pretty good in the back yard but I do like to chew and my foster Mom said the Rhododendron needed pruning anyway. She tends to refer to me as "Oh Henry!"
I am a bit of a Velcro-dog (foster Mom's words) because I really like people especially children eight years and up that like to play with me! I definitely need to bond with someone that wants to leash-train me properly (maybe something called a Gentle-Leader?) and maybe teach me some basic commands. I'm currently working on sit, stay, leave it and my foster Mom thinks I'm very smart! I must mention that I love snuggling just as much as playing!
I'm always a very happy dog and would love to find my forever home!
