Memorial: Roscoe (#1265), now Buddy

Roscoe-Buddy

Buddy, formerly Roscoe (#1265) bounced into our lives four years ago through Golden Bond, and promptly changed our lives in every good way. Already a "senior", he had boundless energy, and his feet barely touched the ground on his daily walks.

Several days after he came to live with us, we got word that he had a "strong prey instinct" which he promptly demonstrated to the neighborhood by catching (and releasing) a skunk. Three more episodes later, he had definitely left a mark of sorts on our block!

His best buddy was definitely Steve, and their daily walks together kept both of them in great shape. Here they are up at Pamelia Lake, Buddy always at Steve's side. He loved our hikes throughout the northwest, especially when a swim and a stick were involved. He made friends with just about everyone at the dog park in Minto Island, particularly the humans.

Although diagnosed with a tumor on his liver in December, he kept up with gentle walks and warm nuzzles right to the end, and we miss him like crazy.

Our thanks to all of you at Golden Bond and the foster care system, for bringing us such joy.

Steve and Kathy

Yum! I've just discovered that part of coming to my forever home is celebrating my new dad's birthday...a nd when he wasn't looking, counter-surfing until I found his cake. I'm pretty sure we're supposed to share everything around here!

My new parents got me from my wonderful foster Mom, Dala, in late October. I appreciate all Dala did for me, and am in great shape, thanks to the exercise routines I shared with her. My new Mom and Dad take me on twice-daily walks and runs, where I delight in chasing squirrels, birds, and cats. Did I tell you that on my second night at home, I proudly caught a skunk in my new neighborhood? Boy, way to greet the new neighbors! After 3 de-skunking baths, I started to retain my good ol' dog smell again.

In December, my folks and I took a road trip to Southern California, where I met my grown-up brothers, Andy and Brady. I loved the long car rides up and back, and everyone down there treated me so nicely.

I'm doing well on a leash (motivated, like my new Mom, by food), love to cuddle, and seem to genuinely love everyone with two legs. Life is great, and I am sincerely grateful to all those wonderful people who helped me get to this place: Dala, Jody, Rita, Jude... boy, am I a lucky guy.

Love, Buddy
