Success Story: Chance (#1279) and Aubrey (#1280)

Adopted September 6, 2005

Chance and Aubrey
Chance (#1279) and Aubrey (#1280) here. It's been a couple months since being adopted and we are loving our forever home. Routines are a good thing and we've adjusted quickly. Every night we go on walks through our neighborhood, which is always followed by dinner. That's the best routine we can imagine. Most of the time we walk on a loose leash, unless Aubrey spots a bird. She is partial to robins and will stop and stare and tug the leash a bit, wishing she were free to chase them. On weekends we go for long walks on one of the many trails in Central Oregon. We get to meet lots of other hikers, and some have their doggies too. This gives us the opportunity to practice our socialization skills. Mom says that could use some practice. On one occasion a man had his itty-bitty daschund on the trail which he picked up when he spotted us. Chance, being ever curious, merely stood up to say a polite "Hello", which embarrassed mom. Chance is signed up for a group obedience lesson. Aubrey has been working with a private trainer.

Our yard is the big enough for chasing each other and tussling. We like to tussle and always agree to stop by giving a final body shake when finished. We are learning to tussle only outside and not inside the house.

Aubrey likes to look out the dining room window, as that's where all the bird feeders are. Sometimes she spots the neighbor kitty and gives a little woof. If Chance is snoozing when this happens, he naturally needs to check out what is going on and rushes to the window. With hardwood floors he sometimes is running in place before gaining traction. Pretty funny.

Mom and dad both say they so happy we are part of the family. The resident kitty is adjusting well. At first he yelled at us a lot, telling us to mind our P's and Q's. He has hissed at us, but it is such a wimpy hiss that we don't mind at all. Mom is finishing up chemo for lymphoma cancer. She says we are providing lots of entertainment to take her mind off the side effects of the chemo. Glad we can help.

Dad has learned to have two empty hands when he comes home from work. We are both there to greet him and you can't pet just one, that's why two free hands are a must. He wonders why we haven't put a hole in the wall with our wagging tales as we get so excited when he arrives.

All for now. Will keep you posted on any new adventures.

Chance's and Aubrey's "Available" Story

Chance and Aubrey
Hello. I'm Chance (#1279) and this is my daughter Aubrey (#1280) and we're 6 and 4 years old respectively. We're looking for a home where we can spoil our people with love. You might think that adopting two dogs is a lot more trouble than adopting one, but I can assure you that's just not true with us. With both of us you'll get way more than 2 times the fun, love and kisses. That's because we are both very competitive when it comes to loving our fosterparents. Let me explain.

Aubrey is a sweet girl and will usually wait patiently for someone to call her to be petted. I, on the other hand, like to help you out by slipping my nose under your arm and flipping it on to my head so you know I'm ready. This gets Aubrey a little jealous so she'll run under me and try to squeeze her way into the action. She doesn't have a chance though because I'm taller and I've learned to be able to flip my foster parents arm from her head back onto mine! Aubrey does have a secret weapon though. When she gets fed up with me getting all the attention, she starts into her kissing frenzy. There's no beating a kissing frenzy so I just have to follow suit until everyone is covered with kisses.

When we're not competing for attention, or ganging up on our foster parents together, we love to have our bellies rubbed. We also love to play outside in the yard. When we're in our yard, we do sometimes play a little rough. No one ever gets hurt though, and when we're through, we always lie down in the grass to kiss and make up.

Aubrey and I are both pretty smart pups. We both know how to sit, stay, come and shake. I must say that I'm also good at sitting up pretty and dancing on two feet! Aubrey and I do fine with cats though they take a couple days to get used to.

It should go without saying that Aubrey and I really need to stay together since we both would be very sad without each other. So if you have the room in your heart for two times the love, come meet us today.
