Goldy
Hello there! My name is Goldy (#1289) and I'm a 2-year old Golden Retriever-English Setter mix. I am now settling into my Forever Home, but it took a long time to get there. I had one home where I thought I was a bad dog and got yelled at and scared a lot. I was confined to a very small apartment. Then I was in a second home and had trouble there, too. I thought that I was a "bad dog" and that nobody would ever love me. Sometimes, when I thought I was in trouble, I would do an "Army crawl" with my belly dragging on the floor. But then my Golden Bond foster families were kind and patient, and helped me find my Permanent Family.

All the bad stuff is behind me now. I have my Permanent Family and my Forever Home. I now know that I am really a "Good Girl" and a "Princess," just like in the Cinderella story. Instead of the worried look, I have a big "Goldy Smile" that I show a lot, because my Mama and Daddy really love me. I don't do the "Army crawl" anymore. Instead, I jump and dance and wag my tail a lot, because every day is a "Great Goldy Day."

I snuggle with Mama on our Chaise Lounge, where I get smooched a lot. Mama teaches me how to relax and be a sociable girl. When we go for a ride, I have the best seat in the car because I can climb into Daddy's lap, and get more Smoochies. I also know it's OK for me to chew, and I get bones and Greenies and other chewy treats for my gnawing pleasure.

My family and I live in an old-fashioned neighborhood in North Portland, with trees and squirrels and raccoons and lots of dogs and cats. Daddy takes me for 4 walks a day, because I have lots of energy and I want to explore everything I was missing up until now. Daddy showed me how to be pals with two dogs in the neighborhood. He helps me with the introductions, because I'm still nervous about how to do this. I look forward to meeting and playing with more dogs. I love kitties, and recently got to meet the cats next door. I get to do lots of exploring on paws and in the car. I even get to be in the bed with my humans!!! Now I know that the world is really a great place.
