I’m Max (#1346). My best pal Sunny (#1345) and I came from California last winter. After spending a couple short months in a really nice foster home in Bend, Mike and Janet adopted us and took us to our really nice forever home in Portland. We like the big city life. There’s lots of neat stuff going on all the time. We got a nice big back yard with a kind of a hill with a couple big shady trees. The front yard faces south. Sunny, who’s a bit older and wiser than me, says that’s good Feng Shui, whatever that is. All I know is that it feels nice to lie in the sun once in a while.
It was really great that Sunny and I could get adopted together. We have been really good boys and have even won over the trust of Sophie the cat. She’s the real boss in the house. She gets to sleep on the bed; we always stay off the furniture.
We like to take Mike for what we call our morning power walk. We usually stop off in a park about half way and see who’s there. Sometimes we make new friends. On most Friday evenings, we get an extra special treat; Mike takes us over to Grandma’s house. Grandma lives in a big building with a bunch of other people, who interestingly enough, all have the same color hair, white. Everybody we see just has to say hello and pet us. It’s a great place to visit.
I’m not sure where he gets this stuff, but Sunny tells me that on the Chinese calendar this is the year of the dog. In my calendar, it’s the year of the people.
