When twelve-years-young Elliott (#1398) came to us, he was underweight and depressed after losing his long-time companion (Elliott had one special person to care for him all his life, who passed away suddenly late last year). We showed him around his new yard, set him up with his old blanket and favorite toy, then showered him with affection. In about 3 days, our boy was playing in the yard and chasing his tail with the energy and excitement of a pup. We knew he had accepted us and was ready to have a family again.
Elliott is gaining weight (over 10 lbs now) and has a healthy appetite with a love for midnight snacks. He visits the park often and enjoys drives to the beach to run (chase the birds) and splash in the waves. His favorite game is bolting out the sliding glass door (rather than his dog door) to surprise the squirrels in the back yard. Elliott's new family loves him very much and he returns that love every day with a waggy tail and gentle doggy kisses (which are reserved almost exclusively for his mom). We're looking forward to many happy years together.
