We have welcomed Tillie (#1435), now known as Killian into our family. She is our new (3 year old) golden retriever.
We adopted her from Golden Bond Rescue and are very happy to open our home to her. She arrived Sunday evening and already is feeling very comfortable. She slept in bed with us the first two nights, I think more out of security than comfort. Since then, she has now chosen the floor since it's cooler.
She is very sweet, calm, big and strong. She has not barked yet, but has talked to us with the fuzzy toy in her mouth about how happy she is.
While she was at the shelter they had to shave her to get all of the burrs off of her and now she is
growing in new hair. The shelter associate that gave her the hair cut obviously has a sense of humor.
They made her look like a lion... she has a fuzzy mound of hair at the end of her skinny tail, lots of fur at
the bottom of each foot and a big lion's main at her head and neck. Other than that she is down to skin.
Neighbor kids keep saying, "she looks like a lion". They all love being around her since she leans into them
and lets them pet her. She is always very sweet with them. One 4 year old had her lip pulled up as far as she
could last night saying, "Look at how big that tooth is!". When I looked to see what the little girl was
talking about I realized that she had Killian's lip pulled up so far she had bitter beer face. Killian just
stood there and waited for the little girl to get done with the dental check up. We are very happy to have
found a golden retriever who is wonderful with kids and other dogs since there are so many in our neighborhood and we socialize with our neighbors quite often.
