Life at our house has required a few adjustments. We have always owned cats and never had a dog so we are all learning the do's and don'ts of owning a large breed dog. For example don't leave socks or beloved stuffed animals on the floor. Boomer will find the smallest item and proceed to chew on it he's very good at finding paper clips and pennies. (I'm getting very good at frisking his mouth.) My girls are learning and fewer things get left. The other day I found myself on all 4's in the middle of the living room trying to think like a dog. "If I was a dog and I got bored what would I go for?" I was leaving him alone in the house for a brief trip out. I feel very lucky that for the most part he doesn't do too much destruction when left on his own. Now the yard may be a different story. Wow, do they like to dig. I swear he can hear worms in the ground like the birds do and he's really good at de-mossing the yard also.
I'm still hoping the cats will come around boy are they mad! When he meets brave cats, he's a perfect gentleman. Too bad our cats won't let him get that close. The rest of the family is happy with our addition. Boomer is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. He's become quite the soccer player, loves Frisbee and fetching the tennis ball. He goes to work with me and loves to ride in the car. He's going to be a big boy when he's done growing, but we're thrilled to have him. I am so happy that fate pointed us in the direction of Golden Bond Rescue and introduced us to Boomer.
