Gladie

Well, you have to see it to believe it! Here I am, the one on the left, posing for pictures with my new family. My name used to be Gladie, but that was too close to Nellie, my new sister, so I now respond to Sophie.

What a pill that Nellie is turning out to be. She's a few years younger than I, and she shows it! Always running around, jumping on people and things, calling for attention, always saying, "Love me, Love me". Wanting to be in the forefront of all pictures. In general, acting her young age. But I'm starting to teach her a thing or three!

I find my new parents to be much more responsive to me whenever I say, "I Love you, I Love you" to them. Nellie just snickers! I mind my manners and stay put whenever asked. I bark a bit whenever I hear people coming up to the house, like a proper watchdog. Nellie just goes about her business as usual. Gotta' get some attitude, girl!

Of course, whenever Nellie and I play, we chase each other, play tug of war, and wrestle around on the floor. Or out on the grass. At least she seems to obey the time honored rules of the Alpha game. Thank heavens for the little things in life.

One thing I really like out here in rural Washington state is the open spaces where Nellie and I can do our thing. And I especially like the stream and river running through the property. I like having this doggie play area so close and so available any time of the day or night. And the warm water in Nellie's and my shower feels really good at mud time!

Nellie did try to teach me one new manner. Whenever I see water, I just like to run and jump in, swim a bit, then shake off. Nellie tells me that my new parents don't like us doing that, preferring that we only go in whenever they throw a tennis ball in for us to retrieve. Oh well, I guess you really CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Or at least I am trying, mom.

Thank you, Golden Bond. You guys did a good job for me, as you do for all of us Goldens. And Jubilee, my best friend. I sure do miss you, but please know that things are good around here, and I am very happy.

Except when Nellie is acting like, well, a real Nellie!
