Success Story: Gabe, now Beau (#1456)

Adopted August 29th, 2006

Gabe

Beau (previously Gabe) could have easily been named Lucky because he was a stray eating garbage in a field when he was found by one of our Golden Bond volunteers. Hungry, dirty and frightened he decided to go with the volunteer and almost immediately fell asleep in her car. His next two weeks were spent with a GB foster volunteer and his two goldens that welcomed him into their family.

Fast forward to our annual picnic and that is where I met and made an instant connection with Beau. He was everything I hoped for in what would be my second dog from Golden Bond. As a six year volunteer I see many great dogs but when it comes to adopting your own I can’t tell you how excited I was.

I will never know what life Beau left behind but we have shared many great experiences in the past two weeks. Swimming in Horseshoe Lake with his two new golden friends Marley and Lilly. Going to Manzanita Beach and diving off the dock into the Nehalem River. Several trips to the enclosed dog park allow him to run free and climb into the little plastic pool for a cool dip. Something tells me he will be taking that dip even when the weather is freezing. All is not perfect as yet, like pulling on his leash, and he’s still trying to convince our two feline friends he can be totally trusted, but all considered he is doing great.
