Success Story: Gordo (#1458)

Adopted October 2nd, 2006

Jaxon
Gordo (now Jaxon) continues to make progress in becoming a permanent member of our family. While his puppy exuberance is still present he continues to calm down and show more adult behaviors. When he first arrived he had no idea what a leash was and how to behave while walking. He stills does not sit when we stop but no longer tries to pull you faster than you want to walk. His biggest training achievement so far is in coming in from the back yard. Duke our older golden stops and waits on the blanket at the back door to get his feet dried and all the mud off before continuing into the house. Jaxon, at first, used to run right past us but now stops, raises his feet to be cleaned and even lies down and stays until released by the OK command.

We took both dogs to Lincoln City for the kite festival last Saturday. Both dogs received attention from a number of parents and their children who wanted to pet them. Jaxon displayed the usual golden affection for children and was very gentle, one little girl got a little too close and got her face washed.

Jaxon and Duke act like any brothers. They wrestle, chase each other around the yard and play tug a war with the plush toys in their toy box (a number of which have already bit the dust).

Jaxon displays none of the depressed attitude we were told about. He is not the least hesitant about demanding his share of the affection handed out. He is in essence a complete golden with all the affection and exuberance of the breed.

Sincerely,

Wayne
