Success Story: Denny (#1585)

Hi, this is our new best buddy, Denny.  Denny came to us after spending a couple of wonderful weeks with foster mom, Pam, at the Oregon Coast.  We
feel very lucky to have found him.

We had four Goldens over a period of 27 years, raised our children with them and lost our last one about two years ago. It was devastating and we really struggled with the decision to start over with a new dog. Denny has filled a void in our lives and we are so happy that, through Golden Bond, we again have the companionship, fun and affection that Goldens bring to their forever homes.

We have two young grandchildren and Denny-or "Den" as our 3 1/2 year old grandson, Alex, is starting to call him-loves to play with them and licks them to death when they visit. Denny is still trying to figure out why Alex's train whistles and goes around and around continually! Recently Alex and Denny had a bubble blowing party in the back yard. Alex blew the bubbles and Denny chased them around the yard popping them.

From the first day, Denny has slept next to our bed and has been content to get up when we get up. He did jump up on the bed the first morning after his new master got up and laid down next to his new mistress. He found out very quickly that his place was on the floor and has been very good about staying off the bed since.

Regular walks and fetch games with balls and an orange "flying squirrel" have become a highly anticipated part of Denny's daily routine. When we are doing things around the house, eating or reading, he is content to hang around with us, nap and wait for the next fun activity.  He also has a "cousin", Brandy, our daughter and son-in-law's Golden, and the two have great times playing together.

Denny has made an amazing transition to us and our home. He has no bad habits that we have found. Like most Goldens, he just wants to be with us and follows us around the house.  He greets everyone he sees in our neighborhood with a Golden smile and a wagging tail, and he loves to go for walks and rides in the car.  He is a real love and a joy in our lives.
