Success Story: Rebel (#1668)

Rebel is a wonderful 11-year old dog. Everyone who meets him, adores him. Rebel is now frequently referred to as "Mr. Rebel" because he is such a gentleman, and the new name suits him well (I have no idea why he was originally named Rebel - he is anything but rebellious!!). Rebel is a joy to be around because he is always so kind, gentle, and calm, but shows he clearly loves life with his goofy demeanor.

I originally took Rebel in as a foster, but I flunked fostering and adopted him because I could not imagine life without Rebel!!!! The first day I got him I took him to a do-it-yourself dog wash. Even after washing and brushing him for an hour, it must have taken an additional week to get all the burrs out of his fur. He also needed a little more meat on his bones, which we are still working on. When I introduced Rebel to my other two dogs all three acted like they already knew each other for years. I found this very odd because my dogs usually act out for at least a few hours around a new dog. Rebel just seemed to fit right in from day one.

Rebel is such a wonderful dog because he loves to: play ball/fetch like a young dog; go to the all dog-friendly hardware stores and make shopping take twice as long because he wants to meet everyone (and everyone wants to meet him); hike and go for long walks; sleep next to my bed with a gentle snore; occasionally pick up odd things around the house and bring them to me; look at me longingly (with his big brown eyes) through the window when he wants inside the house; go for car rides and beg for dog treats at every drive through, wag that big fluffy tail knocking things over right and left, meet you at the door with a big grin on his face; and much, much more.

The thing I like most about Rebel is that he is so happy to be one of my best friends. I hope I have this sweet loving friend for many more years.
