Adoptions in 2000
Angel: Our Angel has been adopted by Don and Patty . Don and Patty and their 10 year old Golden are foster parents for Golden Bond. They saw Angel, who was being fostered by another family and fell in love. Everyone is delighted - especially Angel!
Murphy: Our charming young stray, Murphy, has been adopted by Kevin, Anne and Simba. Simba is his new sister of the German Shepherd persuasion and will show him the ropes. Murphy charmed everyone he met in Golden Bond and we are sure he will make his new family proud to be Golden Rescue people.
Corduroy: Corduroy is a little gem who has been adopted by one of our fosters, Diane, her thirteen year old son and their two Goldens. He was a hit and run found along the road by the humane society - he needed a little TLC to recover and in the process of providing that TLC Diane decided he'd better make his forever home with her. Corduroy is now strong and well and saying thank you by never letting Diane out of his sight.
Big Red: The big guy has been adopted by Walter. Walter recently lost his 15 year old Golden to old age and seriously needed a "friend" to fill the void - Red needed a friend too, and it happened just in time for Christmas!!

Baron-Aaron and Holly got a real gem in Baron and he got a wonderful new family in them. Aaron is a teacher and Holly is a grad student - that means summers and school holidays to have adventures. Aaron and Holly both love the out of doors so there will be lots of hiking and camping and both are committed to taking Baron to obedience classes to help him become the best dog he can be. It looks like lots of fun time ahead for Baron and his new family!! New photos of Baron
Niles has found a new home with Nancy and Steve. They have the perfect low key family for Niles. He'll also have feline companion, Guido. Nancy loves to walk so this puppy will be a great companion. Animal therapy is in his future as well so we are thrilled to have Niles join this wonderful family!April 2001 Read about Niles recent accomplishments here!

Niles is a calm dog who loves to snuggle up and be petted for as long as
anyone would care to sit there petting him. He would be great as a therapy
dog because he does not get excited and jump up. Instead, he loves to just
walk up to whoever is near and put his head in their lap. He's not
particularly playful with toys, which we suspect is most likely due to his
owners having never fostered that in him. He is very gentle and appropriate
with all humans who have come to our house. He takes treats from the hand
tenderly. He gets along quite well with other dogs, and even gets playful with them at times, but would probably work out best as an only dog due to his alpha
nature. He tends to be protective of food and toys, and is not opposed to
asserting his will in those matters. We have no idea about other animals, such as cats. He can be very "vocal". He needs continued work and patience with leash manners , as he must have had a bad experience on a leash at some point in his past. He is a people pleaser so with patience and love we are confident his manners will improve. In short, He is very affectionate, gentle boy. He would do best in a low-keyhousehold with just him and his people. It would be wonderful if we could
match him with someone who would like to use him for animal therapy.

Lucy:Susan and Richard recently lost their beloved Copper to kidney disease and felt lost without a sweet Golden in their lives. We know they don't get any sweeter than our Lucy. She is their second Golden Bond dog and has gone to very special people who know that "rescue gold" is the best gold.

Lucy, our petite ( 45 pound) sweet heart is looking for her new family. She loves people, makes cute gutteral sounds to "talk," gives lots of licks and kisses. Loves to snuggle with you on the couch and would sleep on the bed if allowed. She gets along well with other dogs (although she's a little wary at first and may give a quiet growl). Ignores cats. Freindly with kids. Completely reliable in the house-
stays home indoors all day without any problems. She loves to run and run fast. She also loves water, exploring the swamps and getting muddy. She is learning how to play with toys; she's still working on walking on a leash but she is a smart girl and will do well with continued work on leash manners. She watches her foster brother Brendan to see how to play and, just like any little sister, must have whatever he has or do whatever he is doing. She tolerates baths, loves being towel-dried, and dries in 20 minutes, which is fortunate given her love of mud! She is perfect for anyone who loves Goldens but wants or needs a smaller dog.

Buck and Rick have gone to their new home with Tara and her daughter, Cresta. They'd had some dog visitors this year and decided that the company of canines was what their household needed.Buck and Ricky join two cats and have a wonderful big house to share. Tara and Cresta have lots of love and attention to these boys and we are thrilled that our gentlemen pair are staying together.

Buck and Ricky-were released to rescue as the result of a divorce. At age 5 and 5 1/2 they have been together since puppyhood as siblings and must be placed as a pair. Ricky, the honorary golden, is the alpha of the two. Buck ,the golden, is quiet and docile. They are very affectionate and playful and both love people. They are great with kids, cats and other dogs. They ride well in the car and love to entertain each other. They have had obedience and know basic commands. At present, they are overweight but are slimming down with modifications in diet and exercise. They are looking for a family with ample room for them to play. They would do best in an active home where they can be true family members. If you have room in your heart for these two sweeties, you'll never regret adopting them.

Ginger has been adopted by Vivian and Bob and Maverick, their 8 year old Retriever in Residence. Ginger was released because he owners felt they could not give her the time and attention she deserved - she used to leave home regularly to visit the neighbor dog for company. In her new home she will have all the company a girl could want with Maverick acting as big brother and Bob who is retired and enjoying his "stay at home Dad" status.

Jaxon: Kerry and Travis could hardly wait for the "right one" to come along. Jaxon was the one. They enjoy long walks every evening and look forward to enrolling obedience classes to keep busy and polish those manners he learned from "Uncle Dan" while visiting Charleton Kennels. Jaxson is a very luck guy - he could not have been chosen by a more enthusiastic and loving couple to share a forever home. We know life will have many happy, busy times for Jaxon and he will try his best to make his new family proud of him.
Chester has found the perfect home with Mizue, Roger and "Silly", who will be his canine older sister. Everything in Mizue and Roger's house is dog oriented - last year they moved their bed downstairs when their old dog got arthritis and couldn't climb the stairs to the master bedroom. Silly and Chester even have their own futon!! Roger took the day off from work when Chester first came home just to be sure he was comfortable and understanding everything that was changing in his life. Days are now filled with romps in the park, being together in the evening as a family and Chester impressing everyone by showing them how many tennis balls he can fit into his mouth at one time! Our sweet, gentle giant, Buddy, went home with his new family. Sharon, her husband Richard and Toby (adopted from GBR earlier this year) have welcomed Buddy into their hearts and he will join them on long walks and trips to the beach. Toby has been waiting patiently for just the right guy to come along and be his "brother" and partner in adventures. We can't thank this family enough for giving TWO of our boys a much deserved second chance at happiness.

Buddy is a gentle giant. Released by his owner due to her own health concerns he is approximately 7 years old. He has a history of seizures, but has been stable for several months. Very overweight on entry into rescue, thanks to attention to his Thyroid problem and regular exercise he has dropped to close to his ideal weight. This wonderful golden likes other dogs and of course, adores his human family. He will make a wonderful additon to a family.

Our senior boy Morgen also went home with his new family.Lee, Jennifer, Eli and Amy Beth and Molly their Golden Retriever in residence, drove all the way from Olympia to Monmonth meet and fall in love with Morgen. This family appreciates the value of "old Gold" and we thank them for taking Morgen into their hearts. In their house the dogs get to sleep on the children's beds!! Life is sweet! Update on MorganMorgen was released by his owner at age 12, this senior is the defintion of "old Gold", I don't know if there is a sweeter dog alive! He loves to walk, and loves to go for rides. He is docile around kids, cats and he adores people. He will make a great companion. His foster family says "We love Morgen, he is just a good old pal." This sweetie deserves a second chance on love- if you have room in your heart for him, please contact us.

Dandy, now called Max ,was adopted by the Don, Loretta, Alan, and John and, Jake their year old Golden Retriever in residence. They drove all the way from Battleground to Powell Butte meet Max and everyone agreed it was a perfect match. We are very happy for Max, his new home has everything a young dog could ask for: patient parents, two kind and gentle boys and Jake, a terrific canine soulmate!
Dandy is a sweet male golden found in the parking lot of a supermarket He appears to be about 3-5 years old. Tall, thin, very sweet and having a true "golden personality". He got along very well with all the animals he met (muiltiples of dogs and horses) and showed great gentleness and tolerance with her 3 year old rough and tumble son.
Kasey has gone home with Louis and Patty . They lost their beloved Lady last year and didn't think they would ever have the courage to get another Golden. Love of the breed conquered their pain and Kasey has gone to help with the healing of their loss. She will be an "only child" and very spoiled - when Louis called to report they were home safe and sound he said she had already inspected all of her new toys and was touring her yard. Best of all, Kasey will have company all day because Louis is retired and a "stay at home Dad". Photos and an update from Kasey 11-13-2000

Kasey is a 3 1/2 year old female owner release due to
a move. She's affectionate and playful, gets along well with other dogs. She has been clicker trained in past but is rusty in this area, so she would benefit from an obedience course with her new family. She's very active and would do well in a family with older children, but it too high energy for tiny ones. She appears to be a cat chaser so would be best in a cat free home. She was hit by a car and sustained a shoulder injury that will most likley lead to arthritis in that area in the future. (She still has a pin in from the surgery.) At this point unless she is over tired , it doesn't seem to slow her down much. Kasey is a nice playful, energetic pooch looking for a forever family.
Sebastian has been adopted by Dylan He joins Dylan at home with Carla, Simon, Tucker, Barney and FOUR cats!! He's getting along famously with a whole pride of lions but because in the Carptener house "on the bed" is allowed - he even snuggles with one on Dylan's bed at night. Mr. Personality has found his forever home in Dylan's heart - life doesn't get any better than that, does it?
Zeke has been adopted by his foster care givers,Jim and Rena. Jim says, "there was something about Zeke they couldn't resist" (we know what it was!). We couldn't be happier for them because they have been so generous fostering many dogs for Golden Bond before falling under Zeke's spell.
