Ginny #228. Our story of Ginny will now progress into updates of Ginny and her hew forever home with Jessica and Jonathon. This couple had previously adopted Blazer from Golden Bond, he passed away from cancer last November. Jessica said it took her months to be able to look at our website again, however the time was now right to open their home to another Golden.

After following the story of Ginny on our website, they happened to be able to meet her between hip surgeries and fell in love. Continuing to track her
progress, they knew she was the dog for them. After recovery from her second surgery, we talked with Dr Munjar about when she could be adopted. Jessica and Jonathan had another visit with Ginny and the doctor, and he gave the go ahead that she can move to her new home.

Ginny had quite a homecoming. She has been showered with company, both dogs and humans, gifts of toys and lots of kisses. Their 12 year old Golden Lucy has been staying close by Ginny, and will be a great role model.

Ginny is makeing the transition into her new home and routine with no problems. She gets very excited when she sees her leash, and loves to go for a walk. With continued progression of her healing, Ginny can look forward to a lifetime being loved and pampered in her new home. A very special forever home for our very special Ginny. More about Ginny

BANDINI (250) has gone to help fertilize the garden of Chuck and Lynetta in
Portland. This big guy has come a long way, thanks to his loving and
conscientious foster mom, who spent many, many hours introducing him to
proper house manners - especially in convincing him that it is not
necessary to bark at the slightest noise or every dog in the neighborhood. He still has a way to go and Chuck and Lynetta plan to continue his socialization education with obedience classes. This handsome boy is bound to have a wonderful life with his two humans all to himself.

Bandini # 249 is a youthful 7 year old red/gold male looking for a new team. He has a happy, out-going personality, gentle eyes, and endless enthusiasm for games of catch. His athletic mid-air leaps are amazing! (Need an outfielder on your team?) Bandini was released to Golden Bond by a responsible young family whose busy lives didn't have quite enough time for him. He has adapted well to his foster home, enjoying a mom who works part time, two teenage kids, and a resident rescue Golden who wrestles and plays tug-of-war with him. He ignores a smaller senior dog, would love to chase the neighbor's cat, and has befriended younger neighborhood children. Bandini has been learning house manners and now knows that he does not have to bark to be invited inside. He knows basic commands, walks well with a Halti or Gentle Leader, loves car rides, and after a fun day of play, likes to curl up nearby. Bandini is a sweet guy, full of energy and ready for fun, and will fit in well with an experienced dog family who have time for walks, hugs, and reminders of what a great companion he can be. Bandini will respond with respect and affection and become a welcome part of your team.

ROLY (233) is now in residence with Steve and 9 year old golden,
Cheddar. Cheddar has been an only dog for a while and hasn't quite warmed
up to this new four legger in his house. However, each day they are
getting closer and mellow Roly will soon be best buddy with
Cheddar. Steve has promised Roly that he can go jogging with him and,
maybe, take off a few of the extra pounds he's carrying around. Roly has
made a solemn promise to share his secret with Steve. He never did tell
us at Golden Bond if his name is spelled Roly, Rolley, Rollie or ??, so he
has had to answer to all variations. Of course, Roly and Steve may decide
to change his name to Brie. :>))) Good luck, Roly, Steve and Cheddar.

Roly #233 (aka Rollie, Rolley) is reddish honey colored sweetie pie about 10 yrs old. He was in his original home from when he was a puppy until he had to be given up by his original owners when they moved into a facilitated living home. They were heartbroken to give up Roly. This lovely dog is a wonderful companion and is looking for a special home where he can spend the rest of his life. Roly is a very sweet dog. He likes attention but is not demanding, and he is very easy to live with. Roly enjoys his walks around the neighborhood, and is very good on a leash. He's not the dog for someone who jogs, but he is eager to sniff all the bushes and enjoys his outings. He also likes his daily naps, though, so is definitely is not hyper active. He is a bit overweight and had recently been given a clean bill of health, with the exception of a low thyroid. (With medication and consistent exercise he should be his svelte self before long.) He is delighted to greet his foster family in the morning, preferably with a stuffed toy in his mouth. After a meal, he likes to roll on his back and kick up his legs. Roly just loves being scratched, especially on his lower back. (Roly was used to being with another older dog (12 yrs old), and is neutral towards our two younger goldens. Their energy level is a bit beyond him, but the dogs all get along just fine, even if there is no wild play with Roly.)

RODEO (259) is home on the range...uh, ranch. Olivia and Dave are
his new humans and are very animal-savvy. They live on a ten acre ranch in
Redmond, along with 6 year old golden, Sassy, two feline friends, and
several horses. Since Rodeo had never been properly introduced to horses,
we held our collective breaths to see what the energetic big boy would do
at their first meeting across the pasture fence. Rodeo felt this situation
definitely called for barking, which he did, enthusiastically, while the
horses lined the fence, stoically ignoring him, except for one mare who
extended her nose. When Rodeo decided that they weren't going to play with
him, he went off to do something else. So much for horses!
Thanks to his experienced and loving foster parents, Rodeo made
great strides toward becoming a family dog who lives in a house and
observes good house manners. It could just be that a dog named Rodeo deserves a forever home with horses and cattle and sagebrush. Happy trails, Rodeo.
Rodeo # 259 Released to a shelter because his owners did not have time for a young dog, RODEO joins the Golden Bond lineup of great Golden boys. This three-year-old is a big guy, tipping the scales at 96 pounds. With regular exercise, he's beginning to lose the excess weight -- but one look at that gorgeous big head and large paws confirms that Rodeo was born to be a large Golden. Rodeo spent most of his formative years alone in a back yard. He does know the important basic commands, and we are working on his socialization skills with other dogs. Rodeo is smart, very confident, assertive, and observant. He likes to play ball and loves to swim, leaving quite a wake behind him. There's a major dog athlete under those pounds, and his activity level should go up as the weight goes down. His house manners are good. Rodeo does not counter-surf, and he will give back the occasional towel pilfered from the bathroom. Rodeo does have a high prey drive, and he's not a good candidate for a home with cats or other small critters. Given his alpha nature, he should be an only dog until he's older and calmer. His intelligence and confidence have also nominated Rodeo as a potential field dog.

We are sorry to report that Koby went to the Rainbow Bridge in October 2002. He will be missed by Trish and Joe and our thoughts are with them

. Our big, sweet Koby #266 has been adopted by Trish and Joe. With the nice long Memorial Day week-end, Koby went home Friday night with his new owners in NW Portland. So he has had a wonderful week-end getting to know his new family and forever home. Trish and Joe are just delighted with this big, happy boy. Trish and Joe lost their previous dog, Sam, not long ago so are thrilled to have another dog in their household. You never replace a dog, as they know, but it sure is nice to have another one padding around the house. And Koby is delighted to be just the dog to do that.Koby will be the only animal in the household so will be the recipient of lots and lots of attention. Just what he has been waiting for. Trish and Joe will have a very happy dog waiting for them at the end of their working day. And Koby will do his best to be everything they want him to be. Another wonderful ending to the Golden Bond experience.Update 6-25-02Hi - Thought you might like an update on Koby. Things are going very well. He's is such a great dog, and has fit into our family
beautifully. We just love him and he seems to have adjusted really well to his new home & life. He makes us laugh all the time with his silly antics. He's getting lots of attention and we now have a dog walker so that he gets a potty break and some play time during the day while we're at work.
He's going to be reunited with Elizabeth, Mike and Ginger next week -
Joe and I are going on vacation and Elizabeth and Mike generously offered to dog
sit. I bet Koby will be thrilled to see Ginger again (I hope the feeling
is mutual!) Anyway, we couldn't be happier. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks so much for all your help in finding Koby! Best regards, Trish

Koby #266 is approximately 5 years old. He is deep red in color with a broad head and tall, slender body; he weighs in at about 80 pounds. He is a sweet boy who likes to chase and fetch most types of balls, but has a hard time releasing them to throw again. He is recently neutered and currently lives with a 6 year old female golden in foster. Based on his reaction to observing the neighbor cats he would probably do best in a non-cat home, and do well with other dogs after a solid introduction. He only barks to let you know something is going on. He gently lets you know when he wants to be rubbed and scratched, and makes fun noises to indicate his enjoyment. He loves car rides, usually lays down to patiently wait to see where he is going. He walks very well using a gentle leader. He has been introduced to several children of all ages while in foster and seems to do well with little fingers petting him and giving him hugs. Koby is a sweet guy who will do well with a new family who shows him leadership and lots of love.

Sable-Just one look from 100 feet away and Sable knew she met her new owners. Sable jumped up to meet and greet Herb with glee in her eyes. After a successful introduction to their two Goldens Autumn and Happy, Herb and Peggie knew Sable was a perfect fit for their family. Turns out it was love at first sight on both sides. Already Sable acts like she has lived at her new home for years. When Sable went wading into a pond and tried to catch fish, Herb and Peggie had to let her know they were just for watching. Sable is letting them know she loves to retrieve a tennis ball. Autumn and Happy willingly share their bones and toys with Sable, and she is settling in right away. As Peggie said, "We really love Sable, and want to thank Golden Bond so much for getting us together." For Sable, all it took was one look!Sable #252 is a very sweet 4 yr old golden .Classic red in color, medium to large for a female, weighing in at 68 pounds, she was released to GB from a shelter. She appears to be very family oriented enjoying kids young and old. she gets along nicely with other dogs and cats. Enjoys rides in the car and time to run at the park. Sable has all of her Basic obedience training down nicely. She a very healthy ball chasing golden, but when inside is very well behaved and calm. She minds well on lead when taking her for a walk.Sable is just looking for a family environment that will give her all of the love and attention she needs. I know when you see her you'll fall in love.

Buddy (242) has gone home with Debra and Andrew and their one year old son, Asher. On a recent visit to his prospective new home, he was a perfect gentleman. Everyone fell in love/love all around. Asher thought Buddy was especially nice and he tried very hard to be "gentle" as his mom and dad have taught him. Buddy did his best to make friends with felines, Hawthorne and Symon, but decided he would take those friendships more slowly when warned off by a hiss or two. Buddy will be included in family trips. He is going to have a wonderful time being a friend and guardian to Asher. And they all lived happily ever after. It's been great knowing you, Buddy. July 2002 Update on Buddy

!Buddy #242 is a wonderful curly, light blond, nine year old male. He is approximately 75 pounds and reliably house trained. He is very mellow and is happy to do his own thing (mostly sleeping) while he waits for you to have a minute for him. He'll ham it up while he's got your attention, but go his own way when you have to get back to whatever you need to do. He can be a bit shy at first, but likes people, kids and other dogs. But he will happily drop all others for you. He shows a little excessive interest in our cat, but isn't threatening.
He and our lab will get around to playing about once a day. He loves to get petted by our four year old and puts up nicely with her hugs. He does fine outdoors or in, but definitely prefers in. He will bark at the occasional passerby, but will stop if you tell him. He is fine left alone for short periods, up to four hours at a time (indoors) but would prefer someone who is home (and definately can not be left alone for a long work day.) He has other minor bad habits like climbing on the furniture, stealing peanut butter sandwiches from little people or snacks from coffee tables, he prefers a drink from the toilet, but doesn't give kisses afterward. With corrections he has given up all but the sneaky snacking. He loves a walk, and had wonderful manners with a Halti. He has learned the command "out" very quickly. We use it when he is cruising the kitchen as we cook hoping you'll trip on him and drop something. He knows come, sit, stay, down and bye bye, but can be a bit stubborn if you don't have a treat to show him. Overall, just a wonderful, gentle, sweet guy who will do what it takes to fit in. He'll just sit on your feet and wait patiently for you to love him.

Parker has a new home with Shannon, Rex, Becky and Sarah. After their initial visit Shannon reported that he was a real gem, and a very precious dog. One of their daughters tried scratching his tummy, and Parker was in seventh heaven. It seems to be one of his favorite things! Even though they knew right away he was the dog for them, they waited our requested 24 hours to make sure. Now he is settling into his new home and routine. He loves his walks and going for rides, and is definately fitting into the family. He even ignores the cat, and they have been spotted laying not far from each other on the floor. And then there are those tummy rubs to look forward to. Shannon says he is a true joy to have, and has a life full of lots of love and fun to look forward to. What a great family for this wonderful dog! Parker #187 makes very clear his favorite activities: watching for squirrels in the backyard, neighborhood walks, and snuggling with his humans at the end of the day. He would love a person or family who could let him out frequently during the day (or provide a doggie door for easy outdoor access) and take him for a couple of short walks. A human who doesn't mind sharing the couch with him would be appreciated too, but Parker is a mellow and smart dog who could most likely be broken of this habit. Parker has bonded easily to his humans. His foster home includes 2 other dogs and 3 cats. Parker does not seem to pay much heed to the other four legged family members. He does not chase cats and he does not join in play when the other two dogs play. In fact, he seems to want to act as referee when play occurs! For this reason, it is recommended that Parker be the only dog in the family. Parker arrived at Golden Bond as a stray; his foster parents have observed that he is well behaved, older golden (app. 9 years old), who is motivated to please his humans. He will ad apt well to many family
situations.

Matilda (#254), alias MATTIE, made her first trip in an RV to Vancouver
like a perfect lady with new owners, Janet and Floyd. Once there, according to Janet, she couldn't go fast enough to let out some of her exuberance and to explore her new one acre yard. She had already met and is getting along just fine with her new sisters, a 12 year old golden and a 13 year old Pekingese. In her 36 foot motor home she will accompany the rest of the family on trips to the beach and other interesting places. Mattie, be sure to send us a postcard from some of your travels. Bon Voyage!
Mattie (AKA Matilda) #254 is a 2 1/2 year old 65 pound golden female. She is a beautiful honey colored lady with that golden smile and enthusiasm. Mattie was raised with two school-age boys and was given up due to allergies and asthma. She is being fostered in Florence and loves hiking, jogging and running on the beach. Mattie loves car and truck rides and will jump in the back of a pick-up with a camper. She adapts to any situation and loves going with the family on excursions. She wants to play, sleep on your bed (if invited) and eat!!! She plays with other dogs, but is definitely the alpha dog. She is obedient, has perfect house manners and comes when called. Mattie is aggressive towards cats and horses. This dog would be happy in a family with school-age children. She would love being the only dog AKA "top dog", but would be fine with another dog that lets her be the leader.

Alfie (# 246) came to Golden Bond from the Jackson County shelter where he had developed the reputation of an escape artist. When he landed there,
was put in a pen and left alone with a bunch of barking, howling and whining dogs, he decided he didn't want to be there. So he left...twice. After coming into foster care, it was plain that he was only looking for his human - a true Velcro golden. It was clear that he had good care and considerable training.Alfie is now at home in Portland with Chris and Victor. His special friend and new master is 16 year old Eric who is physically challenged. Eric has always wanted a dog named Houston, so Alfie has become Houston. There are also two kitties that Houston hope will play with him after they learn that he won't hurt them. Already, he has met the young golden who lives down the street and they've had a wonderful playtime. Houston is a wonderful dog. We know he is already bringing lots of fun and love to his new family.

Shanda (# 260) is a 6 year old female golden who was released to Golden Bond by a family who loved her dearly, but could no longer keep her. She came to us with a hefty weight of about 120 pounds and a ton of love to give. It took only a few days to match her to Sisy, Scott, 9 year old Soren and 2 year old Sevrin. In her new home, she has a yard to play in with the children and stay-at-home Sisy. For a while, her only complaint
will probably be that she thinks she is being starved. However, with
increased exercise and play, she will become a svelte, sleek golden lady
quickly. Happy trails, Shanda.

Sweet GOLDIE (#255) is the newest member of Bruce and Kathleen's home in
Aloha. Bruce and Kathleen are retired and plan to devote lots of time to Goldie. There will be car rides, walks, and, maybe, obedience classes. She won't have to share them with any other dogs. There is another four-legger that Bruce describes as "one very old cat that prefers to live in my shop, and sleeps by a heater day and night" Sounds like Goldie has found herself in golden heaven - happy trails, Goldie.
5-3-02 Update: Just wanted to let you know what a wonderful dog Goldie is. She is the sweetest dog. She is Bruce's shadow. Goldie goes everywhere he does. They have really bonded. She has impeccable house manners and obeys commands very well but she does need leash work which Bruce is working on. We have found that she goes to older children but ignores small children. She still has her teddy bear but has given it up for her new toys. She is our forever baby doll. We have come to love her dearly in just the short time we have had her. Bruce & Kay

Goldie #253 is about 4 years old and is a large female weighing in at 70 pounds. She is very outgoing and loves everyone! Before coming to GB her previous family had adopted her through a shelter. She is looking for a forever home where she can love and be loved. She is very people oriented and will soak up all the attention you give her.Goldie is good with kids .She enjoys the company of dogs , but prefers larger breeds. A cat free home would be best. She is playful and loves car rides, swimming and playing fetch with her teddy bear (she takes it everywhere!). She knows basic commands, is house trained and does well on a leash. Goldie is a wonderful golden girl who just needs a great family to love her!

Sonni has a new home and new spelling for his name — Sunny! Penelope, John and their daughter Logan made a long drive to meet this special golden. Now known as Sunny due to his pretty color, he joins Lopsi the dog, several cats, plus an assortment of sheep, goats, chickens, llamas and emus. Sunny should love exploring five acres. He spent his first day checking everything out.
Lots of sniffing and following the family around to get the lay of the land. Logan will enjoy growing up with this golden bundle of love. Enjoy yourself Sunny! (Updated 3-19-2002)

Update: With great sadness, we report that Sunny crossed the Rainbow Bridge on March 15, 2005
Read more from Sunny's family..

Sonni #198,
Sonni was released to GB from a shelter. He is about 5-6 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. (That's small to medium for a male golden.) This pooch is a real sweetheart, and he has bloomed while in foster care with consistent love and attention! He has learned that other dogs are great fun to play with, and refined his house manners. He comes when called and knows basic commands. This boy loves to go for rides in the car. He is uninteressted in cats. His history with children is unknown. He is an active guy and loves to run, but being with his people and riding in the car are what makes him tick. He is looking for someone to give him a forever home and in return will give you companionship and unconditional love.

Cody and Kailey now called (Alpine and Baker) can look forward to quite a life in years to come. They were adopted by Soraya and her two female Goldens, Aspen and Alta, who live on ten acres of property in the Bellevue area of Washington State. Soraya works out of her home so the dogs will have great company with each other but under the love and care of the pack leader, Soraya. Each dog takes turns getting to sleep on Soraya's bed so now, rather than every other night Aspen and Alta, her current dogs, will have to share a little more. All dogs are considered family, children and best friends. They even get their teeth brushed each night before bed.Cody and Kailey have many happy, active years ahead of them and Soraya, Aspen and Alta, will make one big, happy family. Best of luck to these very lucky "kids." Update July 2002 Meet Cody and Kailey (#243 & #244)These two beautifully sweet dogs are a happy pair and must be adopted out together. Cody and Kailey are two-year-old siblings. Cody, the male, is lying down on the left and Kailey, the female, is sitting on the right. The owner of these two dogs is having a difficult time giving them up but her job is changing from her home office to working away from home and being gone a lot. There are two teenagers living at home, but they are involved in other activities and Cody and Kailey are spending a lot of time alone in their kennel. They do go to K-9 Adventures three times a week for several hours of walks or playing in the park, but it is still not like being with family. As you can see, they are big and beautiful with shinny coats and very well maintained. They love their toys and have a whole basketful of "unstuffed," stuffed toys! They love carrying these around in their mouths. They are in the house when Lyn is home but otherwise are in their large kennel where they also sleep at night. Being typical Goldens, they love their people and would undoubtedly enjoy being in the house 100% of the time. There are 4 cats where they live now and they do love the chase when one of them dashes through the kitchen, but it is just for the fun of it.They do get excited when people arrive but quickly calm down for their loves and pets. These are two wonderful dogs that would be great with a family with children or they themselves could easily be the children in a family. They certainly are well treated and spoiled now . Take one look at them and they will grab your heart!

Bo #250, our 8 year old bundle of love, has a new home and a new spelling for his name. Now referred to as Beau, (short for Beauregard) he joins Patricia and her four year old dog Shadow. Already both dogs are getting along well, with lots of playing, ear-chewing, wrestling and a team version of fetching a tennis ball for fun and exercise.Beau is learning from Shadow how to go on a walk linked to a second dog, and he seems to be catching on quickly. Beau demonstrates excellent house manners, and is a typical "velcro" dog, wanting to continually be with his humans. Although he will be missed by his foster family, he certainly has found a great new forever home.
Bo #250 is an 8 year old bundle of love! (he reminds his new foster family of a giant Pooh Bear!) This lovable guy gets along great with kids, cats and other dogs, and spends most of his time with a tennis ball in his mouth ready to play fetch! He enjoys lounging around the house when his foster family is away and always greets them at the door with his tail wagging! It's hard to believe that this well behaved dog spent the last couple of years in a backyard or garage by himself. He is happiest spending time with his people. Bo knows a couple of basic commands like "sit" and "lay down" but hardly ever needs direction- his manners are so great! He loves to go for walks and does well on a leash! He may be eight years old, but he has no problem keeping up with his foster family's three year old golden mix- he is a wonderful, energetic dog. Bo's foster parents will miss him terribly but know he will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family!
Handsome boy, CHARLIE, (#235) has gone to Gresham to live with Cary and
Cathy who are retired and plan to spend a lot of time with him. Just wait
until he gets to know the grandchildren when they all come for a barbecue.
He'll probably become the darling of the neighborhood too when he goes for
walks with Gary and Cathy. Charlie, it's been grand having you with us at
Golden Bond for a while. We wish you and your new family the happiest future.
Update 5-2-02-A friend of Gary and Cathy wrote us recently: "Too cute...thank you. Mr. Charlie went on his first outing to the beach
this weekend. Gary came back just glowing. He said that Charlie is the
perfect traveler and vacation partner. Gary's comment was, "I love that
dog!". They are still marveling over the perfect match they got. I can't
believe how well all this has worked out. Charlie and his new family are
very, very happy. One quirk that Charlie has is that he is still worried about being separated from the family when they are in the house and he is in the
yard. They leave the back door open and he will go outside for a brief
potty break and then race back inside. If it is cold and they close the
door, he rushes to it and calls to be let back in. I told them I thought
this would began to fade when Charlie learns that he can always get back
into the house whenever he wants and loses his fear of abandonment."

Meet Charlie #235 . We're not sure what his exact age is but the vet thinks he is close to 2 years old. He weighs 75 pounds and is a beautiful reddish golden color. He has the floppiest ears and the biggest brown eyes that will melt your heart. He is like a big teddy bear who loves to be hugged and petted all the time. He is a very mellow boy. He's well socialized and enjoys the company of other dogs, but of course prefers human companionship. At night he curls up like a guardian at the foot of the bed. He spends the day indoors but uses the dog door
when naturecalls. His leash skills are great, he never pulls and he comes always
when called. This sweet fellow is a real GEM!!! He would be wonderful with children or a great friend for someone looking for a true angel. If you are looking for the sweetest-most loving golden around, "Charlie" is the friend for you.

MICKEY (#247) is at home in Bandon with Terri and Brian, and their two girls
Trinity, 11, and Brenna, almost 8. Mickey is a medium gold, 80 pound
athletic 7 year old golden. He came to Golden Bond from a family that
didn't have enough time to spend with him. In his new family, he will be
amply supplied with attention and love, go on vacations with his humans and
for runs on the beach. In his new home, Mickey will be the only dog, the
center of attention with full time house privileges and "reserved parking"
on the couch -- a dream come true for Mickey.

Rebecca (#247) to be known as Bliss, has gone home with Jeff,Jan and their three girls Shelby, 11, Lauren, 9, and Gwen, 4. When they first met her, according to Patty (foster mother and Puppy Person Extraordinaire!), Jan had tears in her eyes. They lost their lab two years ago and their golden last November, both of whom they had raised from puppies. The fact that this little girl is a yellow lab/golden cross is almost mystical. There was a lot of excitement in the family with a new puppy , we look forward to hearing how life unfolds for Bliss.
Haley #236 (now called Zoey) has moved in with Jacqui and Paul. She's already showing off the better puppy manners learned from her Golden foster mother, excellent ball-handling technique, and love of people attention. Daily runs and walks are part of her new home, and refresher dog school is already planned. This smart, energetic and assertive little girl is on her way to becoming a wonderful Golden member of her new home. Update 4-23-02-Zoe continues to delight and surprise us. She is a tease and enjoys
sneaking objects from around the house, especially socks and pens. I have
attached to pictures to let you know how she is growing. She is now 46
pounds as she approaches 9 months. She goes to her first obedience class
tomorrow. We went last week and are looking forward to working on new skills.
.HALEY #236 is a 40-pound honey-colored 6-month-old female, still quite full ofpuppy energy and mischief. Released to Golden Bond by a responsible
family whose busy lives didn't have quite enough time for a Golden puppy, Haley is steadily learning "the ropes" in her foster home, with considerable help from her foster Golden mother. This smart little girl watches older dogs for clues, loves to play with other dogs, welcomes people with enthusiasm, and looks forward to daily romps where she can chase whoever is chasing a kong. She likes to splash inevery available puddle, and will probably learn to swim when she gets to watch someone else in the pond. We're working on better leash manners and preferred chew toys. Haley is eager to please, but she does have an independent alpha personality. Like any puppy, she will need continued training and lots of patient attention. A family with an older dog for guidance will be a plus for this youngster.

Jesse and Ranger (#238 &239), our two big brothers, have a new home with Joel and Linda. Initial conversations with this prospective family told us they were looking for a BIG male to join them, and a second dog in the future once
everyone had settled in. When these two guys made their debut on our website, Linda and Joel knewthey were the ones for them. This way they knew from the beginning they would have two dogs who got along together fabulously. Ranger and Jesse have been busy exploring and sniffing out their new home and yard, and seem to be settling in nicely. Joel is amazed at how well behaved they are - he reports they are great dogs, and Linda and Joel are happy to have them become part of the family.
Ranger #238 (above) and Jesse #239 (right) both Males are age 3 1/2 and are old half-brothers. They are like peas in a pod and need to stay together as they have never been apart. Ranger is a playful 85 pound Golden while Jesse is more laid-back 95 pounds (both could stand to loose about 10 pounds with regular excercise). They get along very well with dogs, cats, and young children. In their previous household they were often used as bigs toys for a 2 year old toddler. In their current foster home they are surrounded by a ferret and three cats whom they love to give big wet kisses. They are well socialized, affectionate, well-mannered and eager to please. Ranger loves to bring you anything and everything he can possibly carry while Jesse would rather climb up on your lap and lick your face. Both dogs know their basic commands, although if you call for one, you always get both. The boys would do best with a family with a large yard for them to play in and Jesse would love to have children to sleep with. They are housebroken and have no problem staying indoors for up to 8 hours at a time (although Jesse would be just as happy being inside all of the time). They enjoy walks and love to run free in doggie friendly parks. Ranger seemingly can run for hours, but Jesse tires a bit more quickly due to his extra weight. These two brothers would love to join your family and promise to give lots of hours of love and attention.

Reugar#241, now known as the Dog Without a Name until the perfect name can be chosen, has gone to his own forever family. This lucky boy will be living on the coast with his parents Jeff and Geri, and his own kids to play with, 9 year old John-Luke, and 7 year old Elliot. There are also 3 independent cats who keep giving him the evil eye, and hoping that he really isn't staying. He keeps trying to make nice, but hasn't worked out yet. Cats just play differntly than dogs, he must think .It was love at first sight for Reugar, who immediately took to his new family. His foster parents were more concerned about his new humans liking him as much as he clearly adored him. He was looking for his own people, and he was very happy to find them! He was so excited when his new mom tried puting on his pretty new collar, that he laid down on the carpet and waggled all fee in the air. He is very enthusiastic. He is still working at settling into his new home, and learning what it's like to be an indoor dog. He hasn't had any training yet, so as his Dad says "obedience training is needed, ASAP!"This giant lovebug is going to have a long and happy life on the coast. Have fun Bear Dog!!NEW! Reugarus Ursus Canus, also known as "Reugar, Bear Dog" #241 but you can call me Teddy, because I look just like a big bear!Hi! Do you want a (teddy) bear in your life? Well, that's me!! My name is Reugar, and I am looking for my forever family to take me home. I came into foster when my family decided they didn't have the time to give me the love and attention that I deserved. They wisely and lovingly called Golden Bond, and now here I am!! I am almost 2 years old, I have a very full, fluffy, dark red coat, and I my foster mom says I really do look like a giant stuffed teddy bear (I assume that's a good thing, right??) After two years of living outside, I am loving this indoor dog thing. I have a cute foster sister golden who finally decided to play doggie games with me, and we play and play for hours. Sometimes we chew on each others ears until one of us cries, but we really only do that so foster mom comes running into the room and gives us hugs (foster mom hasn't figured out yet that we're manipulating her for free hugs!! I'm still working on the potty training thing, and foster Mom says thatit will just be a while before I am what she calls "reliable" until then, she just makes sure I go outside every couple of hours, and we're all happy. I also like to hop up and down, and sometimes jump on you when you come into the room, but if you tell me to get off, I comply (for a second, anyway!) But hey, I'm pretty much a puppy, and I've only been learning to be a house dog for a couple of weeks now. I sleep in my crate at night, and whenever my foster parents aren't around to keep an eye on me. I love to go for walks, and have a lot of puppy energy. I love my humans, and am looking for a forever home where I have another dog to play with, my own kid humans to play with would be really cool, too! A dog and kids would also be great! If you can't play with me constantly, I'm actually pretty good about amusing myself, and can even toss and fetch my own bone! One needs to be resourceful, I say. If you would like to have your very own heated teddy bear to call your own, I'd love to come home with you! Please give my foster parents a call, and maybe they'll let me meet you.

Tucker #241 Read about Tucker.

SANDY (196) is now home with Kathy and Ron; their two boys, Sam and Adam; yellow lab, Newton; and two cats, Scooter and Fred. Sandy is particularly fond of and gentle with her new best friend, Adam She is looking forward to many play sessions with Adam, Sam and Newton and much snuggling and loving with the whole family. In her typical mature way, she is being polite, but mostly aloof with Scooter and Fred. Her weight reduction program will be continued until she is slim and trim again. Sandy will overjoyed when that happens because, like all women, she hates dieting. Kathy said that Sandy is a real sweetie and they all feel honored to share the rest of her life with her. We're certain that Sandy feels that way too.June 2002 Update Sandy #196(senior), a pretty 11-year-old lady with thick honey-colored curls, is the sweetest Golden ever. Adopted as a puppy, she was kept outdoors all of her life and received little attention. Her family gave her up in the hope she
would find a home where she could spend her senior years getting the love and attention she deserves. In foster care, she has quickly adapted to indoor life and comes and gets you when she needs to go outdoors. She is an amazingly fast learner. She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. She is wonderful with other dogs of any size or age, cats, children and senior citizens. She enjoys car rides and travels well. She adores people and is very affectionate. She rolls over and asks to have her belly rubbed.
She also loves hugs, chin rubs and a good bone to chew. She's a bit of a food mooch and plump but is losing weight on a diet. She has no bad habits
and would be a great dog for anyone, including someone with no experience with dogs. She has the start of cataracts but doesn't act like her vision is impaired. She is a little slow going up steep stairs (no surprise at her age) and is taking glucosamine chondroitin to ease her joints. Sandy epitomizes all that is wonderful about Golden retrievers.

Hi! I'm REUGAR, THE GREAT, (#212) and I just moved in with Janice and Karl and my new golden playmate, Toby. Janice is going to take me on walks with Toby every day. After I lose a few more pounds and get in shape, maybe I'll be able to walk as far as they can. How far is 5 miles? They're also telling me about hikes in the mountains. What is a mountain and is a hike different from a walk? Oh, it all sounds so exciting, and I'm sure Toby will show me the ropes. Thank you, Golden Bond, for helping me to find this wonderful, forever family and home.

NOTE: With great sadness we report that "Roog" crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 13, 2004 after 2-1/2 years with Jance and Karl.

Ruegar #212 is a very lovable, gentle, affectionate 8yr. old. He is just a big soft "teddy bear" and you just can't help but fall in love with this guy. He's a little overweight at this time, but with proper diet and exercise he should do well. Ruegar loves to go for short walks and looks forward to being svelt so that he has more stamina. He is well mannered and minds well. He knows all the basic commands. He has the softest and nicest blonde coat which he loves to have brushed. Although he is not a big "cat lover" he doesn't go after them, he just likes to growl or give a small bark just to keep the cat on his toes! Ruegar likes to sleep on the floor next to the bed (would rather sleep on the bed if you let him) and likes to lay close to wherever you are, he's a wonderful foot warmer. He has those big kind brown eyes of a Golden. Ruegar will make a great addition to his forever family, he has so much love to give, and he is always so very happy to see you when you get home from work and when you wake up in the morning- he greets you with a tail wag and a smile.
