For the Love of Goldens
Abe (#451) has gone home to Applegate, Oregon, for Christmas. Larry and Linda are his new dad and mom. Three legged Tucker is his new Golden buddy who will show him his new five acre home. Abe met his new family at the door with a towel stolen from the bathroom stuffed in his mouth, vocalizing his famous growl through it, smiling and wiggling all over. Larry said to him, "Hello, Abe. I'm your new dad." Need I say more?
This announcement is being written through tears of farewell for me, his foster mom, and of happiness for Abe. Coming from the shelter in September, Abe was fearful and distrustful of humans and very depressed. Slowly, with the help of the resident golden and other foster dogs who passed through, he regained his confidence and trust. He left for his new home a prancing and gleeful senior dog with an air of great dignity. What a joy it was to witness the change! And what a wonderful validation of the Golden Bond rescue program!
