Success story: Piper - formerly Peanut (#457)

Peanut and FamilyDear Golden Bond Family and Friends:

This year, Thanksgiving will be my favorite holiday! I'm so thankful that when I met Ryan and Emily, it was love at first sight for all three of us.

Even though I enjoyed spending time with my foster family, it is so wonderful to be a member of my new forever family. We are busy doing all kinds of remodeling work on our big old house in Portland. We have lots of energy and enthusiasm and it's so much fun for me because Ryan and Emily do most of the really hard work, while I provide them with entertainment and lots of loving support.

They both tell me how much they love having me as a member of their family and I'm looking forward to fun with their friends and their friends' dogs. We'll have great times together.

We've had so much fun on our walks and going to the dog park where I've already made many friends. I'm just such a happy dog with everything in the world I've ever dreamed for.

Love,
Peanut (#457)

Update November 18, 2003

Just wanted to send you an update! I don't know if I had emailed this to you already, but we've changed Peanut's name to Piper. I really can't figure out how anyone could have let this dog go. Because he had seen several homes in the last couple of months and with the history of separation anxiety, I guess Ryan and I had it in our heads that he would need several weeks to become adjusted to us and his new living situations. But Piper started settling in on about day two and has gotten better every day. He hasn't barked at all when we leave for work since the first day. He and our cat, Alice play well and although they're curious about one another, never fight or growl/hiss at one another. He walks well on a leash, is never aggressive towards other dogs we meet, hasn't been a chewer or a biter, hasn't had an accident in the house, already knows basic commands, walks well on a leash (even when we got caught in the pouring rain at Mt. Tabor and turned our morning walk into a full run!)... the list goes on and on. He is the biggest love, and here we were bracing ourselves to be patient with a dog that needed working through some issues! Instead, he has had to be patient with us I think!! All that waiting was certainly worthwhile. He is a superb addition to our family. We just love our puppy boy!!

Just wanted to let you know how great things were over here. Thanks a lot.

love, Emily, Ryan, Alice the cat, and Piper
