For the Love of Goldens
Adopted February 2004
It was love at first sight very mutual for Summer (#986) and her new family, Cammie and David. After introductions, a walk, and conversation, Summer settled down between her visitors and stayed there, contentedly playing with a toy. Many times, our foster dogs let us know when the special family for them has come along. Summer chose well. She now lives in a cozy home situated on five acres where there are plenty of squirrels to round-up, forest trails to explore, a stream for Golden splashing, and two people who have lots of time and love to offer. Her owners send email updates and happily report that Summer is doing wonderfully in her new home. She goes on at least two long walks each day, plays outside in her own 5 acre park, enjoys going to town on errands, and starts obedience classes next week so she can give Cammie and David a little refresher course. Have great fun you three!
Love and hugs from a happy foster mom
And from Summer's new family...
Summer has been with us for two weeks, now, and we are absolutely delighted! She is just what we've been waiting for. She came with her own bell to hang on the door, which she rings when she wants to go out. We have another bell on the outside, so she rings that when she wants back in. Talk about smart! We live on 4 acres, all fenced, in the woods just outside Corvallis. She has lots of room to run and play, although she is a house dog. She's inside with us whenever we're home. We take her for walks in the woods and she splashes in the creek to her heart's content.
Although she came with a loaner crate, we gave it back within the first week. She's very trustworthy in the house on her own and loves her foam and sheepskin bed, under the dining room table. She didn't seem to know her name or any basic obedience words, so we're working on that. She catches on quickly. Next week, she and I will begin basic obedience school, so she'll be able to socialize and learn with a group. We're looking forward to taking her hiking and camping this summer.
Thank you, thank you, Golden Bond, for this wonderful companion.
Sincerely,
Cammie & Dave
