Permanent Foster Dogs
Memorial: Comet

Update: March 19, 2004

Comet Comet
Comet, one of our permanent fosters, was diagnosed about three weeks ago with a mass on his spleen. This is never a good diagnosis, nothing could really be done and the inevitable would come painlessly.

Susan Mullins called this morning saying that Comet had died peacefully this morning in their home. Comet was originally a foster dog with OHS. Not being sure how long he had, Golden Bond was called and Carla willingly offered to have her home be his permanent residence until the end. Well, the end took a long wonderful time, Comet lived with Carla and Susan from May 2001 until now, a happy almost three years. As Carla and Susan said so often, he is a little curmudgeon at times, but just a wonderfully sweet boy.

Thank you Carla and Susan, for providing a loving and caring home for Comet all this time. What would Golden Bond do without wonderful people like yourselves!

Permanent Foster: Comet

This 14 year old boy has been in foster care with a loving family for three years. His owners said, "We're moving — let's put him down," but staff at the Oregon Humane Society knew Comet had more life to live and love to give, so they called Golden Bond. Because of seizures, it was believed he had only a few months left, but three years later, he still seems happy. Comet has 2 kinks in his spinal cord (spinal stenosis), but that doesn't keep him from clinging like velcro to his mom. He's not as sharp as he was, and he can't walk much any more, but this guy deserved more than being a "throw away" on an owner's whim. It's being there for guys like this that defines the mission of Golden Bond.
