Raynna #1696 & Sierra #1695

Adopted April 24, 2008

Rayanna #1696Raynna #1696, age 10, and Sierra #1695, age 8, (mom and daughter) came to live with us in Washougal, WA several weeks ago. After losing our Golden, Cody, our little Irish sheep dog, Tinker, was left without a canine “friend.” Although he appeared to be doing just fine, we just couldn’t imagine that he wouldn’t want to have another buddy or two to keep him company while we are at work all day.

Well, it turned out that we were right! Tinker started smiling as soon as the two girls showed up. Not to say that there haven’t been a few little spats while everyone figures out the canine boundaries, but all in all, it has been a very smooth transition. This is due mostly to the amazing temperaments of Raynna and Sierra. Not only do they have manners, but they have a wonderful sweetness and loving nature. I would say they are close to being “perfect” in that regard.

Raynna, who we also call “Mama” a lot of the time, is a little bit reserved, but still welcomes hugs and kisses. She’s a true explorer, which we found out the first day she was with us. We have several acres of fenced property, and I think she thought she had found doggie Utopia. She ran and ran and romped and played, with Sierra close on her heels. We’ve also discovered that she loves woodpiles, of which we have several. She will sit and stare and watch and wait, just knowing that some little critter is living in there. She doesn’t have very good sight in one eye because of a cataract, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with her sense of smell or hearing!

Sierra #1695Sierra is a complete love bug. She would let you hug her all day. She loves soft toys and shoes (and sometimes boots), and will have one or the other in her mouth to greet us when we get home. She’s also more of a “home body.” She just needs to know where we are all the time. Raynna, on the other hand, will go off and dig a hole somewhere, certain that she’ll eventually find a wonderful treasure.

Mealtime is just the BEST time for these girls. We swear they turn into butterflies, they are so light on their feet. They do this little jumpy thing with their front legs, which is so endearing. How could you not be totally in love with dogs like these?

We believe that we have been truly blessed by having Raynna and Sierra in our lives and thank Golden Bond Rescue for trusting that we would give these two gals a really good home.
