Molly #1703

Adopted June 30, 2008

We're enjoying having Molly #1703 and it is delightful to see her relax among a wider circle of friends. Almost day by day we can see her tension easing around new people. While each new person requires careful reflection, by the second visit, most people are readily welcomed into the house and part of the petting crew.

She loves the fact that our house is near the sidewalk, that we have big windows and that lots of people and dogs walk by all the time. The next challenge is to convince her that discussion of each passer-by is not essential. And squirrels, my they are fascinating creatures. She watches for them in the trees and when they walk across the telephone wires. I watch for them along the sidewalk in hopes of having Molly sit quietly in the face of her desire to chase. We do get good exercise as she and Ella, our resident Lab, tend to be into competitive walking although Molly is always in front.

Molly adores her ball -- but a squeaky ball is much preferred over a tennis ball -- and will chase one seemingly for hours on end. Long walks with her new people are also a welcome part of the day.
