Timber #1812 came for an “interview” with his foster care giver, and it wasn’t hard to see he would fit in well here.  He marched right in the house, tried out the vacant dog bed in the corner (our old retriever, Mykell,  doesn’t like it and prefers sleeping on the floor), grabbed a tennis ball and was ready to play.  Mykell has pretty advanced arthritis and doesn’t move very much anymore, so Timber was just the dog we needed:  eager to play, eager to walk, eager to go out in the car – he wants to be in on everything.  We had been thinking of getting another puppy, but Timber made it easy:  he still thinks he’s a puppy, but is otherwise well behaved and socialized.  He gets along with everyone, especially all the dogs we meet when out for a walk.   He has even “motivated” Mykell to get up and move some more – she has to find out what he is up to, lest she miss out on something.  I now have an excuse to go out for long walks; we’re walk about  3 miles per outing, and Timber is always up for more (although sometimes I’m not).  He’s adjusted to his new surroundings quite well.
