Nugget #2052, now Chica, came to live with me in late September, and we’ve had a lovely time getting to know each other. This darling little girl has proved to be a great fan of snuggling, carrots hidden in toys, and going for walks – oh my! The enthusiasm Chica demonstrates when the leash comes out could power a city with lights for a month! And what an assortment of funny faces she has; I especially like the “Hi, you need someone to pet now” face. She drapes herself across my lap whenever she can, even if her contortions make me wince, just so I can tell her how pretty she is and how lucky I am, and if she gets bushed while she’s there, she’s a happy girl.

We’ve met neighborhood dogs, gone to a couple of parks, visited friends in the country, and gone to the coast for a week.

She’s very receptive to new things to see and smell, as well as being admired for being dainty and smart. In fact “Remarkable and Clever” is one of her nicknames. She’s learned to “Drop it”, and now we’re working on “Lie down” and “Shake”. Chica came with “Sit” already a super response – I’ve never seen a pup plant a behind so fast! One habit we’re focusing on now is her jumping up on people to say hello, an enthusiastic behavior that isn’t so appreciated. We’re also working on getting into an obedience class soon, and that will help us both communicate even better. Chica is a delightful sweetie who makes me laugh everyday. We’re having such a good time – and all because GBR had the perfect girl for me. Thanks especially to Ashley and Linda for helping us get together!
