Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon

Chester's (#2098) start in life was anything but happy. He was passed from one abusive owner to another. He lived under an import pickup canopy, irregularly fed or allowed out, and one of the "owners" used duct tape wrapped around his muzzle to keep him from whining when he was bored or lonely. Finally, the family could no longer afford to buy any sort of dog food. So a neighbor suggested they call Golden Bond Rescue. The day we picked him up from that home was truly the first day of the rest of his life.

His foster mom has taught him about love, trust, good dog manners, and so much more. She has high hopes for this energetic, happy dog. At 5 years old, he is, of course, still a work in progress, but Chester is ready for his forever home.

Chester will need to be an only dog since he is very ball-possessive and does not like to share any attention he gets from his person. He has lived with cats and children, but we feel that children over 10 would be best due to his energetic and enthusiastic play style. He has been learning to walk nicely on a leash and to follow commands, but a basic obedience class would be of great benefit to him and his people — especially since he is a big boy, weighing 75 pounds or so.

We would like to see Chester go to a family where he is not alone for long periods of time. This dog needs the love and attention of his people for reassurance that his old life is behind him. Ideally, this home would have a big backyard that is fully fenced, no small children, and no other dogs or cats. Do you think you might be the family to heal Chester's heart?
