Toby (#2106) My name is Toby and I want to tell you my story. It starts out sad and has yet to have its final ending. I was a stray found in Clackamas County and taken to the shelter. When I arrived it was found that I had a broken foot, no one knew why.  Thanks to the shelter I was brought to NW Veterinary Services where they did the surgery to pin my foot together. Back to the shelter I went with a rather hopeless future ahead of me.  I sat in the shelter with little attention to my broken foot or me and was getting depressed. My foot hurt, the bandage was not being changed regularly, so it stayed wet from rain and urine and became infected. My good fortune started the day Golden Bond Rescue was called to see if they would take me into their program. Here’s the problem – I’m not a Golden Retriever; however, I am gold in color and have the wonderful Golden personality. In fact, I have the personality that all of you want when looking for a dog for yourself and your family. This is why I was accepted because the folks at Golden Bond Rescue know that many people care more about personality than looks. Take a look at me and you’ll see that I am a good-looking boy, just not a Golden Retriever. Oh, and I don’t have a tail (no tangled feathering to worry about) - someone bobbed it off long ago. My foot took a lot of care and attention. I also received a lot of love from my foster homes. I am now fully recovered and you wouldn’t know anything had been wrong with my foot. I just need a chance to have a forever home. I’ve been with Golden Bond Rescue since January and it is time for me to unpack by bags for the last time. Won’t you please give me a second look? I thought if I told you my story, you would see how much Golden Bond Rescue cares about me and wants to me to have the best possible family. Here is me in a nutshell: 8 years old, healthy, alert, smart, quick learner, walks well on a leash, gets excited but calms down quickly, gentle giant (I am tall but carry it well), well mannered, don’t get on furniture unless invited, totally reliable in the house, love to be with people, gets along with all animals, and I lie quietly on the floor wherever you are

I truly am a Golden Retriever where it counts - my heart is filled with love, plus I have quiet devotion to give to my new family.  May I please come home with you and place my hairbrush next to yours?
