Ginger & Jojo's Available Stories
Ginger (#2139)
I'm Ginger (#2139). Since I'm the oldest, I'll go first. I'm 10 years old, but don't let that number define me. I'm much younger in my actions — and at heart — than that number tells. I'm a spayed female and weigh 55 pounds. I'm very happy and healthy, although I do have a little bit of arthritis. That doesn't stop me though. I love to wrestle with my sister, JoJo, and play outside. I'm well-behaved and good on a leash when we walk. I actually don't have any negatives about me. (Well, I do have this one little quirk. When I'm excited, I like to put your hand in my mouth. I don't bite or anything, I just want to hold it.) I'm just a big LOVE who likes (no, LOVES) to have my backside scratched.
JoJo (#2140)
Now me! I'm JoJo (#2140), and I'm a 7-year-old, spayed female who weighs about 62 pounds. I'm very healthy, fit, and energetic (but not crazy energetic). I've got the cutest smile, and I show it all the time. I love to play and wrestle with Ginger or my foster brothers. I'll chase balls, but I have trouble dropping them when I bring them back. I've always got to have a ball or a toy of some sort in my mouth. It just makes me happy. I love people, and I'm just learning how to cuddle. I'm protective of my home so I bark at people (or dogs) who pass by the fence. But being a good girl, I will stop when asked. I do pretty well on the leash, but I am excited to be out and about.
From Foster Mom: These are truly two of the sweetest girls: very loving and super-easy to have around. Ginger was with her family since she was a puppy. She'd been a well-loved, inside dog with her owner for about the first six years of her life, Ginger is well-trained and very loving. When a new baby came along, Ginger was only allowed in the garage and outside.
When Ginger was 6 or 7, the family adopted JoJo, who was about 3 years old at the time. JoJo's family was getting a divorce, and they couldn't take care of her any more.
These two are very bonded. Ginger will tag along after JoJo, and JoJo is always checking up on Ginger. They wrestle, play all the time, and snuggle together. When JoJo wrestles with one of my other dogs, Ginger wants to break it up because JoJo is hers. Ginger isn't aggressive — she just barks and dives in between them to wrestle with JoJo. That kind of love is wonderful to see.
The two have this game that is the cutest thing you've ever seen. One of them will get a ball and then flaunt it in front of the other until the other dog latches onto the ball too. Then they wrestle around with both of their mouths on the same ball.
For the last three to four years, these two girls were outside dogs. JoJo has been trained and is very smart, so she learns quickly. I have the feeling her first family wasn't very demonstrative; JoJo loves to be petted, but hugging or cuddling was foreign to her.
At my home, the girls can be inside when I'm home and they sleep on dog beds beside my bed at night. I have special dog covers on the couch, and Ginger has learned to love snuggling on it. She likes being an inside dog again.
