Banana #2169

Adopted September 28, 2011

Banana 2169First and foremost, we would like to thank Golden Bond for taking the time and effort to save this dog. Also the Battleground animal hospital for the call they made to Golden Bond. Banana, now Emma, is a joy. She’s been with us since the end of September, sure she can’t hear very well and her allergies are a constant worry but she’s such a sweet heart. Because she was so sick for so long, her stamina isn’t what it should be for a 5-year old, so each day we walk and play chase and tug with the Frisbee - she's starting to wear us out now! She has such a sweet and gentle nature; when she wants attention, she will give you her paw to hold. Cuddling for her is to be almost on top of you. When she smells something she likes, she will make a little smacking sound with her mouth, this brings us both to peals of laughter.  My husband and I are still amazed at just how well she fits in with our family. Thanks again, Golden Bond for the opportunity to adopt Emma and the trust in us to care for her.

Banana's Available Story

Banana #22169Even if you didn't know about everything that Banana (#2169) has been through, upon meeting her you would still think she's one of the sweetest dogs you've ever met. She truly enjoys meeting everyone - people and dogs alike. Within a minute of meeting you, she will be on the ground rolling over for a belly rub. Apparently someone named her Banana because she goes "bananas" when she sees her favorite people. She seems like she's about 3 years old if you look at her canines and she plays like a puppy.

Banana was found wandering on her own in Battleground WA with ears so infected that after 3 months of hospital care with no relief, they were ready to give up on her. Some amazing Veterinarians and volunteers, knowing what a special soul she is, stepped in and donated the surgery to remove her ear canals (and cause of infection). They knew that after her recovery, although she wouldn't have much hearing, she would make an excellent companion. And she has!

Banana has fully recovered from surgery and is raring to go to her forever home. She is a regular Golden in every way except for the hearing. She LOVES to go for walks, romp with other dogs, swim, lounge at your feet or chew on her rope. She's proven to be easily trainable. She learned “dogs out of the kitchen” in 3 days! She also knows signs for “sit, down, no, and go to bed”

In the house, she naps most of the day and although she sometimes will nap in her open crate, she doesn’t love to be locked in it for hours on end (who would?) Other times, she'll play by herself, tossing her knotted rope in the air and pouncing on it like a puppy!

Banana #2169She is very social with other dogs and has been reserved and politely respectful of her Foster Mom's diva kitty. She's been great with all the kids she's met at the dog park and would probably do best living with children who are mature enough to understand her impaired hearing.

She is trim (63 lbs) but not underweight and is doing well with a daily 45 minute walk or trip to the dog park. She will probably build up more stamina when she is eating more. She is calm in the car and and has been going to work with her Foster Mom, where she has made many friends and gets belly rubs several times a day.

She does have allergies that may have contributed to her ear problems, but they are completely under control with a weekly allergy shot given by her Foster Mom. (It's easy - just under the skin, and Banana doesn't even notice).

Banana is looking for a companion or family to call her own. Despite her unknown past, time alone on the street, and surgery, she has somehow maintained a truly wonderful temperament This sweet, affectionate, calm girl will warm your heart with her soft brown eyes that say: “Is it time for a belly rub?”
