Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon

Max (#1917), sometimes called Maxi-Boy, is a lovely 10-year old Golden. Max first came into my home as a Golden Bond foster dog. Before dropping him off, they told me he liked to bark and sometimes “jump” dogs. As expected, he spent his first hour barking and first few days jumping my dogs. He looked a little shabby. His back end was shaved, and he was recovering from allergies and flea infestations. We later discovered that Max had minor seizures. Regardless of all his troubles, from the first minute I met Max I knew I liked him a lot!

After a short time with me, Max only barked when he got excited and the dog jumping just went away. After feeding him quality food, and treating his allergies and seizures, all his health issues minimized or disappeared.

I soon discovered that Max is a big clown. He is the only dog I know that can get himself hog-tied with a garden hose or electrical cord to the point of complete incapacitation, every single time he sees one. Every time I take him to a dog event or public place he becomes the most loud and rowdy dog there. He has no idea he is a senior dog because every time he sees a puppy he can’t wait to wrestle with it. His most endearing quality was displayed on two occasions when he was place in an X-pen. Max did not like me leaving him in the X-pen so both Max and the X-pen followed me around for quite a distance. Max’s most peculiar trait is catching me off guard with a fully loaded ice cream cone. On three different occasions over the last 9 months, Max chomped my cone down to a stub when I only turned my head for 1 second!

Max has so many qualities I adore. Max loves everyone he meets, and everyone loves Max too. Max is a beautiful dog. He loves to go to the dog park; play ball; go for car rides; hike; follow me around the house and yard; harass anyone with a ball; make silly growling noises; sleep next to my bed; and so much more. I am so happy I adopted Max from Golden Bond Rescue!
