Scout #1962

Adopted January 20th, 2010

1962_Scout_1Scout (#1962) joined us in January and has become a devoted member of the family. He loves to be by our side—whether he’s riding in the car, cuddling on the couch or playing keep-away with the ball. Scout is our second rescue dog, and while he and Bridgett have very different personalities, the process of joining a family is similar. Scout came to us needing medication for anxiety due to all the changes in recent months. In the first days he would pace from room to room and whine for long periods of time. What he needed was routine and security. He needed to know what was expected of him and how things worked in this new place. After more than two months, Scout no longer needs medication, knows how to communicate his immediate needs, and is learning how to get attention in positive ways. Just as with Bridgett, the more that we provide love and consistency, the more Scout settles in. We are confident that every month that goes by will result in less anxiety for Scout.

Scout enjoys his yard, his toys, and his rides in the car. He and Bridgett have developed a comfortable companionship. Scout loves his new family members (especially mom—who he follows everywhere she goes!) Now that Scout no longer needs medication, we have enjoyed seeing the ‘real’ Scout emerge. We love the quirky Scout, the persistent Scout, and most importantly, the snuggly Scout who will lay his head on your lap for hours and gaze at you adoringly.

Thank you Golden Bond for all of your support and matching us with Scout!
