Lucky Blessing's Available Story
Lucky Blessing (#2150) is a 14 year old male who used to live in Texas until his owner fell on hard times. His “dad” passed away in 2009 and then his “mom” lost her home and had to move in with her daughter’s family here in Oregon. There just wasn't any room in the daughter’s house for Lucky, so he was chained outside in the yard. Lucky’s “mom” reached out to Golden Bond, because she couldn’t afford to care for Lucky and she knew he wasn't happy being left alone outside. He deserved someone to love and care for him.
Lucky was brought to Golden Bond and taken to the vet’s office for the usual care that we require for all our incoming dogs. During Lucky’s neutering it was discovered that he had testicular cancer cells which were removed, the cancer shouldn't cause him any future problems. He was also dealing with a hematoma in his right ear, which was infected and was then treated. Besides these findings, Lucky was also diagnosed with heart worm. This is not a common problem in Oregon, but in Texas it is a very big concern. Luckily his case is considered a Class 1, which is the lowest classification. Lucky’s treatment consists of taking a monthly heart worm medicine and keeping him calm. Thankfully he has no symptoms and plenty of stamina.
It is a behavior issue that required Golden Bond to place him as a permanent foster. Lucky loves eating dirt, gravel, and anything else he can find. He can no longer go outside without being supervised. Lucky is also pretty much deaf and blind. Lucky’s foster home is giving him the supervision and love he needs.
From Lucky’s foster mom:
Lucky is doing fine; he is a real sweetie and I love him to pieces. He has gotten much stronger since he has been able to run and play here. He is walking a mile or more a day, and is now able to jump over logs, run up and down the stairs and is a really happy boy. He seems grateful to be inside and to be able to sleep on a nice soft dog bed
