Madelyn #2183
Adopted September 1, 2011
Madelyn (#2183) came to us at a time when she was really needed, and wanted. We had lost our Maddie, who was also a Golden Bond Rescue dog to osteocarcinoma last February after a wonderful 10 years with her. When GBR called, saying that they had a little girl for us to meet, we were thrilled for the chance to foster her! Madelyn now goes by Olivia, and is a perfect fit for our active, wild and crazy bunch here. She is 6 years old, but is very much a 2 year old puppy in so many ways. She had to have her wrist fused last year, but one would never know with the way she runs after balls, and chases the squirrels that use our fence as a freeway in the backyard. In addition to her wrist being fused, Olivia also suffers from several different allergies that requires her to get allergy shots from us every couple of weeks. She doesn't seem to mind getting her shots, especially since it means she gets to get some really good treats afterwards, and lots and lots of good pats, and rubs.
Olivia is learning some new manners in our home, and is also getting to enjoy exploring all kinds of spots in Oregon. Her 2nd weekend with us, we went to Mt. Hood, and she had a ball, exploring, and walking up the trails at Multnomah Falls. She is a true travel dog, and has no qualms about going to new places all of the time. We knew after about a week that we wanted to keep her vs, fostering her. We had our ah-ha moment with her when she went in to have dental surgery, and we were nervous for her to be put under for the procedure. When we couldn't concentrate on anything but her that day, we knew she would be our new Golden Baby. :) People should not let dogs that have a little baggage deter them from wanting to adopt. Not all dogs coming into GBR are perfect, and most will have lots and lots of baggage. We just so happened to have the space in our home for her to be able to unpack all of it. We are very truly blessed that GBR has given us not one, but two Golden's that have made our lives so happy.
Regards, Mike and Heather
