Duke (#2176) came home on October 6, 2011. He had been abandoned by his former owners and even though he had been in a wonderful foster home for a couple of months, he was still a very frightened boy when he arrived in his new home. Duke also had some medical issues and was underweight. It took a couple of weeks before we finally began to see his tail wag and his appetite improve. We were thrilled to learn last week that he had gained a pound! He now feels quite comfortable with his golden sister Daisy and especially enjoys the company of his feline sister Fay. He quickly learned how to use the pet door and loves to just go outside for a minute and take a breath of fresh air. 

He enjoys going for a walk, will chase a ball in the backyard and is always right next to Daisy when treats are being handed out. He is standing in the picture of Duke and Daisy waiting for his snack. When I am standing he loves to lean against me or put his head on my knee if I am sitting. Duke is such a sweet and gentle boy who deserves the best. We are looking forward to watching his comfort level increase along with his weight. And we feel so fortunate to have him as part of our family.
