Goldi #2184
Adopted November 30, 2011
Goldi (#2184), renamed Tele, came to live with me in early October, reluctantly leaving a wonderful GBR foster home. I am grateful for their care and unselfish sharing of a great dog. Tele is a 1-1/2 year old puppy, eager to explore the world and take on any squirrels, tennis balls and squeak toys that might come her way. Words that come to mind to describe her are boundless energy, unbridled enthusiasm, curiosity, friendly, smart, sweet, very cute and did I say energetic. Long walks, play dates with dog friends, the dog park and playing with toys are her passion. She relishes wading or a swim in a stream. At the end of the day she wants only to be near her person for scratches and belly rubs. If only she could, she would be less distracted and more focused. I remind myself daily of her youth and burning desire to soak up every experience she missed in early life. Tele is a joy! She makes me laugh, exercise, meet people and re-evaluate how special the world really is.
Thanks so much, Helen and Tele
Adoption Story
Goldi #2184 is a year-and-a-half old 60 pound bundle of energy, enthusiasm, and joy. There is not a person she doesn't want to meet, a dog she doesn't want to play with, or a new place she doesn't want to explore. We don't know what her first nine months were like, but when she was nine months old she was given to an elderly couple who didn't have the time or energy to train her and exercise her. However, she is house broken. As a result, she acts more like she is 6 months old than a year and half old! After seven months they gave her up to a shelter that had no room for her and Golden Bond rescued
Goldi's forever family will need to have energy and patience, and be willing to spend time in training. She knows "sit," "lie," and "come" commands but still needs reinforcement. She is still exurbent and, like any puppy or human child, she would prefer to do what she wants to do rather than what her parents want. But she is extremely affectionate and bright and wants to please. In the time she has been with her foster family she has learned a lot and calmed down significantly. Like any puppy, she needs supervision. She will help herself to food left within her reach if she can. She has not been destructive (except to operate on some squeak toys to find out why they squeak). She does sleep through the night and moves around a little but has never bothered anything.
Several people have commented that Goldi might enjoy and excel at agility training. She really is quite an athlete. She loves to run and jump after balls. She even tries to climb trees if she sees or smells a squirrel! She shows interest in cats but has not really been close to one, so it is not known how she would be with a family cat. Goldi will bring joy, love and excitement for many years to the right family.
