jazzy 1364This is Jazzy #1364. She’s an 8-year old female Golden who had to leave her family because they were elderly and had to go into assisted living. She is an absolute love – very affectionate, always ready for a cuddle or a scratch behind the ears. She will meet you silently at the door – no barking at all – and then sit patiently until you have put down your things so that you can pat her. Then she’ll run to her bed to get a toy and drop it at your feet as if to say “I’m so glad you’re home – look what I’ve brought you!”  If you are working at the computer or reading a book, she’ll leave her bed and come lie at your feet. If you’re in the kitchen she’ll come lie in the corner to keep an eye on you, and perhaps to see if any snacks are available. Jazzy never takes food off the counter or coffee table and is pretty good at not begging at the table as long as your children don’t sneak her something when you’re not looking!

She loves to go for walks and at her foster home, she is usually walked for about half an hour twice a day. She can certainly go for longer and is not demanding when asked to cut it short. She would do well with a fenced yard where she can go out occasionally to do her business between walks but is happiest when she is around her people. Jazzy loves to roll in the snow or on the grass or even inside if she finds a carpet she likes. She is great with kids – her foster family has two boys ages 11 and 13 – as well as new people who come in to the house. She sleeps in her bed, stays off the furniture, and is easily trained to stay on one level if you don’t want her upstairs or downstairs for any reason.

Jazzy 1364Jazzy is nervous around other dogs and would be best in a home where she is the only four footed animal. When walking on the leash, she can sometimes pull or growl softly when near another dog. It is not that she is aggressive, more that she is very anxious when she sees another dog and wants to make sure she gets the upper hand. For this reason, Jazzy could benefit from training.Golden Bond would be happy to cover the cost of reactivity training in order to help Jazzy realize her full potential.

She would be a wonderful member of your family.  She is very loving, affectionate, undemanding, and a great companion. Please consider her for your “forever dog” today.
