Ralph #2216

Adopted February 6, 2012

Ralph's Available Story

Ralph 2216Hi, my name is Ralph (#2216); however, you can call me any name you like because I don’t hear very well, although my hearing is improving. I was abandoned when my owners moved away and left me on the porch.  After the neighbors saw me breaking the ice on my water dish for a week, they finally realized my owners weren’t coming back. The Oregon Humane Society was called, and they rescued me. When OHS realized a foster home would be best for me, they called Golden Bond Rescue.

My foster mom picked me up the Friday before Christmas so I definitely got my Christmas wish:  to be in a nice warm place and well taken care of.  No one really knows how old I am, but the neighbors reported that I had lived in that backyard for at least ten years! I guess that means I’m 10 or 11 years old. I was totally deaf when I was first rescued because my ears were never cared for. After careful cleaning and medication, I can now hear a bit and will probably continue to improve.  The other thing about my ears is that one earflap is gone. My original owners had a pit bull, so my foster family suspects it bit my earflap off.

Ralph 2216I get along well with my Golden brothers here in my foster home. I am very laid-back, not into toys at all but I do like short walks. My back leg muscles need improvement, so longer and longer walks will be good for me.

My foster mom thinks I had very little contact with humans.  At first I would flinch when being touched or petted, but after getting lots of pets and love every time someone walks by me, I’m finally learning to trust people. I am much more willing to join the family and will even walk up closer and closer to people for some attention.  I now love to have someone sit down next to me and give me a gentle hug to assure me that I am a good boy.

I am looking for a home where there are few steps and lots of warmth and love.  I won’t be real active but will probably improve with familiarity. I am now eating good food and getting some of the unneeded pounds off.  I am on thyroid meds, which are also helping me lose weight.  I kind of live in my own little world, but I would love to be a part of yours as well.

When I came to Golden Bond Rescue, I got my Christmas wish - love and a warm bed. Now I am looking for my New Year’s wish - a forever home where I can lay my head and be loved for who I am.  Are you perhaps the one?
